Southampton spying compendium thread

I don't think that's relevant. If someone takes steriods in the oylimpcs, but doesnt run a PB, it does negate the fact they cheated. They are hoyed out. IF Boro can prove they've cheated, which looks pretty nailed on they can, Southampton have to be shot out. The impact on the game is immaterial
I very much doubt that it's even part of the process ... it'll just be "did they cheat?" if they find they did as accused then what's the punishment. They may argue lone wolf etc. as rumoured, but are highly unlikely to use the defence of cheating but not to much effect :)

Partners will do even better if more eyeballs on the match globally.

it's already marketed as one of the most important matches of the football world, this would take it even higher.
Which makes absolutely no difference if you’re providing services to people at Wembley on the day of the match and have shelled out for material, staff, logistics etc.

If the hearing has evidence he was recording etc and soton admit he was their employee kick Soton out , and Hull get Promoted .... !

The only suitable punishment has to be that Southampton CANNOT be allowed to be promoted. It's really that simple.

Fines are meaningless as the reward outweighs any fine that could be levied. Plus if they stay up after their first season they continue to reap the windfalls from that.

Transfer embargo or points deduction don't have to be applied by the PL so again more or less toothless until such time as they get relegated back to Champo.

And if they aren't thrown out, so either Burra play in the final due to receiving a bye or Southampton play Hull in the final and if they win are expelled afterwards, the message has to be that this type of behaviour results in the strongest possible sanctions. If not EVERYONE will be at it next season.

During the summer additional investigations should add the points deduction, transfer embargo and/or relegation to L1 or even L2, IF it's proved that their miraculous upturn in form was directly linked to more cheating, sorry spying.

Like I said he overstepped the mark and was that desperate to get an edge broke rules

Grill him until he breaks and tells the truth?

I agree, the integrity of the competition requires Soton kicked out and Boro take their place in the final.
For obvious reasons, will put my post inside a Spoiler

Not promoting gambling, but newsworthy the odds for Soton's expulsion from the final.

Implied probability of expulsion currently at 15% to 23%

That’s Southamptons only get out, admit charges but say it was a analyst over stepping his remit without club’s approval, get analyst to admit that with the promise of not sacking him or possible golden handshake

One this that hasn't been mentioned throughout this is the welfare of the young lad who was 'the spy'. Southampton and the FA have a duty of care to make sure this kid is OK and doesn't do anything silly. He was clearly acting under instruction so the people who have instructed him to go up to Boro cant be throwing him under the bus. The amount of pressure this kid must be under will be awful. Im not condoning what Southampton have done and i think they should be kicked out of the Play Off for cheating but this young lad MUST be looked after and not made a scapegoat. He must have been acting under instruction so for this young lads sake I hope those that sent him are big enough to stand up and take the wrap for it.

Boro can offer him a position if he spills the entire can of beans (not just this one incident, but all of them, implicating the higher ups etc.)

The longer this drags on, the worse it is for Hull more than anyone.

Both the club and their fans.

The club have no idea who they're preparing to play against. The fans have no idea if there's actually a match.
Exactly. The actual incident doesn't sound too complex. They were spying. If this was in a company it would have been sorted last week. Talk to the people involved and make a decision. It just looks like the EFL is procrastinating and it is Hull who are suffering unfairly.

This passes the time until we play Chelsea.

Plus it is funny watching the footballing authorities get their knickers in a complete twist because there;'s no easy answer for this.

The supporters of the three clubs involved will suffer . But that's just par for the course

Theres a precedent for chucking teams out btw

1st tie to club established in 1986 ,3 nil
Then the final
Hull 2 club established in 1986 1

Teeside Tears tears the teesiders apart

Must be an absolute headf*ck for the lad.
