Southampton spying compendium thread

Still think only outcome is Southampton DQ and Hull promoted
Agreed but that means Sky missing out on advertising revenue, Wembley missing out on a full house and all the amenities around Wembley missing out, so for me it’s a non starter despite being the fairest option.

Not sure which games you were watching, Boro played Southampton off the park in the first half of the first leg and were the better team in the first half of the second leg.
should have scored more goals than Southampton then they wouldn't have give a shit how many blokes they had stood in the bushes

Spy gate couldn’t have been much of an advantage if that’s the case then. They just need to accept it and move on. Hope they don’t get another chance and Hull get promoted.

Theoretical conundrum if Boro re instated and date changed .( I think Boro should go through btw )
Hackney plays because he’s had extra time to recover/train -arguably the best player in the division -so Hull “ suffer” again ? ( Boro rightly so would love that -I would if I was them ) but is it fair in the one team who has won through already ?
Someone made a good point -when they made the rule around “ spying “they should have attached what the punishment was
Of course the punishment should be in place already

Boro aren’t half whiney little fuckers. Totally played off the park by Southampton from start to finish.
Thats not the issue though is it,Southampton have been charged ,mind so were Coventry all those years ago but were just fined and warned against anything like this happening again .

My boro mates said after losing and the manner in which they did, them thinking it had nothing to do with them cheating and boro more being incompetent in front of goal they would rather southampton dq and hull go up

The club has released the following statement...
Middlesbrough FC notes the decision of the Disciplinary Commission not to permit the club to intervene in the proceedings brought by the EFL against Southampton FC.

The club regrets that outcome, given we are directly affected by the matters under consideration and hold relevant factual evidence as to the events in question and their competitive impact.

The conduct at issue, namely the observation and recording of our training session ahead of a fixture of such significance, goes to the heart of sporting integrity and fair competition. In these circumstances, the only appropriate response is a sporting sanction which would prevent Southampton FC from participating in the EFL Championship play-off final.

We remain hopeful that the EFL, as regulator, will pursue such a sanction before the Disciplinary Commission in order to protect the integrity of the game, safeguard all member clubs, and deter any attempt in the future to obtain an unfair and unlawful advantage in pursuit of promotion to the Premier League.

The club reserves all its legal rights.
The way boro have acted has been a disgrace imo. Trying to intimidate the EFL at every step of the way to get a decision that suits them. Leaking what is basically confidential evidence to the press. Demanding they be involved in the hearing that they have no right to be involved in. Not getting their way there and then trying more intimidatory tactics with this press release.

Issue you’d get with predetermined punishments is clubs could go deep into it and still get the same punishment as just 1 bloke taking notes of who’s training, both wrong both should be punished but you need stricter punishments for more cheating.

It’s not like financial where you can say every £5m overspend is 3 points, really it should have been dealt with within 48 hours of a claim as the dragging it out is what’s creating all the issues.

Keeping the pressure and you'd hope if it was us you would want SAFC to do the same?

I think boro need to be careful and realise they also were poor in the 2nd leg which Southampton didnt spy on.

Dictating to the EFL for their own shortcomings is not the way. Ive lost a bit sympathy after that statement

Surely if Southampton appeal any disqualification, they’ll just play the game regardless and if they win, whoever gets promoted is ‘pending appeal.’

Just like the semi final, the EFL will be praying Hull win to make it easier for them!

Thankfully we don’t train next to a golf course car park mate. And no. I’d genuinely not want to go up like that. I’d accept it if it was forthcoming but I’d not be banging the drum for it.

This place is desperate for Bereh to get in

It’s all about punishing Southampton apparently, but it has to include a Bereh promotion.

Most likely game goes ahead and either result ending up as hull promoted
