Nothing really serious will happen to Southampton......the FA haven't the balls to do it.

ThisThis place would be lit up if it was a team caught doing it against us so I have every sympathy for our Yorkshire acquaintances.
Those saying it’s no big deal either are aff their tits or are on the wind up.
Realistically, this needs calling before the final, well before, Soton need to be thrown out and for every club that have evidence against them a three point deduction next season.
This is the perfect solution. Would set a precedent that can be used regardless of the game. Also would be a similar punishment to something like fielding an illegible player - which often just an admin fault, so wouldn't exactly be harshVoid the first leg result due to the breach of the rules which they have admitted.
That awards Boro a default 3-0 win on Saturday, let last nights result stand, the result is Boro go through to the final.
the EFL have said that they want any punishment and appeals process concluded before the finalIs there any updates on this or just 20 pages of contrarianism?
Of course it does. You don't think being able to see what shape a team is training in, what personnel are fit or not fit, what 2nd and 3rd formations are being worked on, what set piece routines are being created etc doesn't make a huge difference? That I don’t think it makes a huge difference
Set piece routines are relevant.I honestly think it's a storm in a tea cup. Who f***ing cares? What exactly are you gaining? 0.5%, less?
Oh the mighty Boro are going to use this shape and line up. And? It will be pretty much the same as the last time they played.
Bottom line is Southampton as a recently relegated side have better players than Boro therefore should win. That's what has happened.
Rules are rules. Cheating is cheating.Winning football matches is usually about the best team on the day. We were the best team on Saturday but could have lost the game in the final few minutes. That's football.
Total storm in a teacup.
Exactly, especially as Boro had lots of pressure in the home leg and didn’t score off any of the resulting set pieces, does feel Southampton had a tactical advantage in that first leg.Of course it does. You don't think being able to see what shape a team is training in, what personnel are fit or not fit, what 2nd and 3rd formations are being worked on, what set piece routines are being created etc doesn't make a huge difference?

You can't calculate the marginal advantages Southampton have had especially in the 1st leg which they've been caught red handed for. Even if its a fraction of a percentage, that's still an unfair advantage.
They should have been excluded on the spot.
Not sure how it helps Boro now they are knocked out. The same EFL who should have excluded Southampton before the semi will not exclude them before the final.
They would rather it play out and deal.with the aftermath. Thick as whale spunk.
Could be any other team, barring the mags, and I'd say the same. It needs stamping out. Fast and hard. Otherwise the precedent means every other team would start. And why have the rule, and it's clear punishments, if it isn't enforced?Could you imagine a thread on a boro forum with numerous boro fans crying about Sunderland not getting promoted or how much a disgrace it is etc etc? No,neither could i…get a grip man will some of yas![]()
Leicester were punished for financial breaches in the PL, weren't they?People saying points deduction for Southampton regardless of what league they’re in.
The premier league aren’t going to follow suit from an EFL investigation tbf. They’ll basically get away with it if they’re promoted - until they’re relegated again.
A points deduction doesn't fix cheating in a match where there are no points on offer, and they stand to gain massively ... I suspect the 3 - 0 award of the first leg to the smogs is the best and fairest outcome, as well as a fine.People saying points deduction for Southampton regardless of what league they’re in.

If it was that simple, then that's what they would have done.Rules are rules. Cheating is cheating.

In this situation, I sympathise with Boro as a whole but Gibson failed to back his manager in January when he really needed to. Their bench last night was absolutely awful.Gotta sympathise with Mr Gibson.Since he took ownership of Middlesbrough football club he has to be the most unlucky of men.Appears to be a really decent man,as well.
Every possible 'legal' and discipline matter has gone against him - as far back as when a team wasn't sent to Blackburn because of illness.
There is a whole catalogue of incidents where his club has suffered - but the same decisions did not go the same way to other clubs.
I cannot recall them all - but a Boro fan will.It is a long list.I hope for Mr Gibson, after all those years of paying for 'Boro, and with the experiences he has endured, that this decision goes in his favour. He deserves it.He must be sick of football by now...Hope he sticks with it.
I’m not sure, but is that not the EFL following a premier league investigation?Leicester were punished for financial breaches in the PL, weren't they?
