Southampton spying compendium thread

Here’s an option

Fine and points deduction next time in the championship

And a transfer embargo regardless of which league they are in next season be hilarious to see that team in the prem next season with no additions
They’re still being rewarded with £200m though which makes them significantly more likely to be promoted when they next go down if they are promoted. I can’t imagine only Boro fans and clubs in the EFL want to see Southampton punished heavily for this, especially as they’re already receiving parachute payments and chose to do this too. Proper pathetic from the club

Good point. Any clubs beaten by Southampton, who were on the fringe of the play-offs. Wrexham, American owners love to sue.
It might well be a stretch but why wouldn’t they give it a go, guarantee a number will be exploring their options

A bit unfair if Hull were promoted in their place when it was Boro they got the advantage over through cheating. It's going to get awkward though as they haven't been found guilty of anything yet, only charged, so the play off final really has to go ahead. If they win the final then are found guilty it would be canny unfair Hull getting promoted when it was Boro they beat though spying on them and cheating.

It's a nightmare situation for the efl to sort out.

Im struggling to see what would be gained by doing something so daft.

I assume they knew their best player had checked out, Whittaker couldnt give a shit and Castledine looks like he won a competition. Oh and Dael Fry doesnt like heading.

Boro manager going bit over the top like . What Southampton have done is pathetic, but boro were shite and he seems to be saying it's because they spied on them. Nah mate , you played like shit and had no thought of attacking

That went well 😂

You can analyse and do whatever you want but it doesn't mean it makes a difference on match day.

Football is a simple game. There's far too much bullshit involved these days IMO. Buy the right players (see Sunderland summer 2025) get your players fit, get a happy atmosphere around the place, good team spirit and make sure everyone knows there job and you'll win more than you lose.

That's Brian Clough's mantra in a nutshell and it STILL works!

Compare us to the mags. Wrong (new) players, bad atmosphere and £750M worth of players underperforming.

Of course all those things are important, but it feels like you are stuck in the 1980s.

Football had evolved since as has most elite sports. It’s all about marginal gains now.

That’s why clubs have banks of coaches and analysts, it’s why Head Coaches are not managers.

Arsenal have won the Premiership this year on set pieces and they play a different 11 every game.

It was a simple game … in 1985

I'm really struggling to see a way out of this for the EFL where they don't look like a shower of shite. Southampton shouldn't have been allowed to play in the semi finals if they're to be expelled from the playoffs and it's unfair on Boro to let whoever is in the final take Southamptons place if they went up. The EFL can't force a points deduction in the PL. They're never going to give Southampton a 3-0 defeat in the first leg because that would've changed the whole dynamic of the second leg. They can obviously issue a fine but no way is that enough of a punishment.

But then, where do you stop? If it transpires that Southampton have been doing it since the german took over then every team who missed out on the playoffs has a case as well. The likes of Wrexham who got battered by Southampton quite randomly as well. Southampton winning last night has made it 10x worse for the EFL.

Once the final is played that’s what it has to be.
Indeed that’s how we benefited back in 1990
