Southampton spying compendium thread

If Southampton are gonna be disqualified, then it needs to be done after (if) they beat us..
It's not fair on us (as the club allegedly cheated against) to be knocked out unfairly, whilst a team that hasn't been cheated against gets a free pass into the premier league.
My bet is. Huge fine. Either if they win or not.

Future rules to be changed, if caught spying you forfeit your next game, including playoff games etc.

They’ve probably thought after Leeds it wouldn’t happen again. Now it has it needs properly looking at being a punishment harsh enough for it to stop it.

You have no authority here EFL, no authority at all. As if Southampton will hand anything over
Not cooperating is almost an admission of guilt. Train tickets, petrol receipts from garages just along the road from various academies, atm withdrawals, phone mast triangulation etc etc.
There’ll be something in the FL rules n regs where clubs agree to cooperate with the FL….if not

Absolutely disgusting behaviour from Southampton FC.

Although I think Brough is a waste of an away day, this game should be awarded to them 2-0.

They couldn't enforce that. They could just say someone picked up an injury before the game and they couldn't disprove it. Similar to why teams get their goalkeepers to fake injuries and players to pretend they've got head injuries during the game for tactical reasons.
Don't need to disprove it. They could just say "tough" - thats part of the consequences of cheating - unless it was a serious injury that could be independently verified.

I want bora to gan up, but the knars its pointless, Gibbsy hasnt got the kind of wedge required to sustain.

Were there any rumours before the match that Swindon could be demoted?

I don't recall any but many people on here do remember them going around.

Also Bob Murray was apparently really relaxed about the outcome of the final before it even took place.

Rumours were that because of the gravity of the issue and overwhelming evidence he more or less knew what the outcome of the disciplinary hearing would be before it took place.

It seems like it is very clearly evidenced cheating. And southmapton should be punished accordingly. They cheated to gain an advantage against a specific opponent. The only course of action is a punishment that punishes Southampton, and benefits Boro.

Following the Leeds derby spying issue, a specific rule was brought in.
Southampton have deliberately broken that rule (not by accidently fielding a ineligible player for example)

For context Swindon were booted out the EFL trophy for inadvertently fielding two players who were ineligible.

I can't see a scenario where they aren't punished by being hoyed out.

They aren’t the police, there’s no way they’ll get access to that information. They haven’t broken the law, just a rule, allegedly.

Its nowhere near as big a deal or as cheating as financial doping that every fans cries out form.

Storm in a teacup
Not sure why Boro think they should get a free pass to the final

What if it happened against Wrexham? They’ll want 3 points as well to put them into the playoffs

Be surprised if anything major happened

Tranmere Rovers brought on a sub without the subbed player going off and scored against us.

12 players on the pitch and nowt happened to them.

I've just realised its about 22 years ago and I'm still vexed.

He was also caught, so presumably got very little information or scoops.

They're going on like this as its likely they could have been knocked out anyway.

They’ve done unbelievably well to get into the play offs from how they started the season. Utter stupidity to potentially throw it away now. Next season in the championship could be quite strong as WHU or Spurs would be likely to bounce straight back. Burnley usually do well in that league and Wolves might turn shit around. That’s before you get your surprise package like Millwall.
