Southampton spying compendium thread

Latest crack is they aren’t going to contest the fact that the individual was caught spying but are going to claim it was a rogue employee/intern looking to impress and was acting without their knowledge and consent

Sounds like a bit of a stretch to me and even more so when other clubs are apparently saying they had their doubts during the season (although none have direct evidence like the Boro)

I’ve the utmost confidence in the EFL to reach an appropriate decision and taken action commensurate with the issue 🤣🤣🤣
Got to say I find it hard to sympathise with a club who hate us so openly
They laughed at our dislike of Coventry and the reasons why now they want sympathy from anyone and everywhere
Gibson wanted to stick the boot on derby at the he lowest ebb which was beyond pathetic
These other clubs saying they had ‘doubts’ really, you’ve conveniently just remembered now? Rightio 😂

I think Southampton should be kicked out personally. The play-offs are classed as a separate competition to the regular season and have admitted they cheated. Yes you could fine them, but what message does that send? A £1m fine for cheating in a competition that bags you £220m prize money.

It’s a sporting offence so should have a sporting sanction.

If the other clubs in the championship can prove it happened during the regular season then any club that just missed out may also have a case against Southampton.

Gibson is a ruthless fucker and if Boro don’t win tomorrow, you better believe he’ll go after Southampton through the courts.

That’s absolute rubbish like.

Bunch of cheats who are just going to use this lad who’s been caught as a scapegoat.

Should be handed a points deduction next season for shit like this regardless of what league they are in.

Bellends.

Agree with this.
If it turns out that they (Southampton) are in any way behind all this then it's not very likely that this is the first instance of it this season.
Steve Gibson 'fights' for what he believes is right and he's in a position (financially) to take things like this on.
Folk moan about what he supposedly 'did to Derby' but he only fought for what he believed was right (pretty sure it got settled out of court in the end too)

Hi Steve

I seen an article the other day (guardian i think) that said a few other clubs had contacted middlesbrough and said they now have similar suspicions about southampton in other games. It mentioned examples where southampton looked "prepared" for some new free kick routines from the training ground.

Whether these clubs have evidence like Boro is another matter. But it has potential to get very messy if just one more was to come forward with evidence. I think they should be kicked out the Play offs and hit with a fine and points deduction for next season. If they only get a financial penalty that's not exactly going to discourage others from trying it.

Some rich owners will happily risk a fine if it means they could get a place in the premier league. The punishments needs to be a sporting one as well

Boro need to win at Southampton to go through to the final. The FA won’t boot Southampton out imo but if they do, it would be if they were to win at Wembley.
Most likely result will be a fine and the FA will hope they can do this should Boro defeat them and get to the final.
A stupid move by Southampton whatever happens.

Apparently boro are working with Ipswich and other clubs to obtain further evidence of cheating

Southampton should be either kicked out of the play offs or the first leg to be forfeited by them meaning Boro go into the 2nd leg with a 3-0 lead.

Then a full investigation and if they are found to be guilty of doing this throughout the season, a points deduction and fine.

What he did to derby when it meant the club could of gone out of business as a result was an absolute disgrace

That would make no sense, if Boro are the ones compromised by this. THEY should have some recompense, not whoever Soton might play in the final. It's a very different situation to the Swindon one all those years ago.
