SoL To Undergo Multi-Million-Pound Investment Programme

In the final year of Short's ownership the maintenance budget for the stadium and SOL was £125K and I can only imagine it reduced under the Donald shitshow. So all we are doing here is correcting all the backlog maintenance work that never happened.

Aye but they are doing it so its bringing some pride back and spending money on the asset. lets take this as positive steps

Was in the ground yesterday and they're cracking on with a lot of work, including the new safe standing area (can't call it rail seating, because it isn't, but its looking decent). Quite a lot planned, and sounds like all of the requested budget is being made available, so it's a positive step
If only they could extend the size of the concourses in some way? A debate for another day.

To be honest I think it goes beyond just needed maintenance. They don’t need to move the ticket office or shop and they don’t need to build the bar they are rumoured to be doing. It’s a massively positive step off the pitch which is needed given how it’s collapsing on it.

Increase the concourse and improve the food/drinks on offer. You’d have fans throwing money at the club

It is good - I expect fanatics will be paying for the club shop also

Why cannot you call it rail seating?is it the full size seat wit a rail behind?

Why would the requested budget not be made available, isn't the people requesting the changes not the same people paying for it?
No, there's someone who is I guess a facilities manager type of role (no idea what his actual job title is). If he thinks things need updating or improving he'll go to the board and ask for them to fund it. Under the previous regime, unless it was absolutely required in order to remain legally compliant, he'd pretty much be told there's no money for it. Now he's able to make suggestions for improvements and they're being signed off

It's not the system where the seats are permanently up and only unlocked if we're in Europe ()

Was probably the single biggest oversight by Bob Murray when the stadium was initially designed. I always thought it was never wide enough down there even in the SOL early years.

Would cost a canny whack (though entirely possible) to widen it.

Yeah totally agree. The width of the concourses should be at least double the size.

You can't build a 42k stadium for 20 odd million without making a few sacrifices.
