SoL To Undergo Multi-Million-Pound Investment Programme

Totally agree mate. They should have made the North stand the home end. Loved it in there when i had season ticket there.
Totally agree, however in reality the north stand was build as the home end as the south stand was the aways end which created the atmosphere in the stadium with sunlund fans on either side of them. once the away fans went up in the gods the atmosphere was lost...

Agree mate, but there was NEVER any atmosphere in the north stand...that's why me and the lads moved from there, after yrs of trying to get an atmosphere going..we used to get looked at like we all had 2 heads if you started chanting.

I'd make two points - if we are now debt funded then having a wealthy owner can help in ensuring the interest charged is lower. This isn't just maintenance, it is upgrading stuff.

I'd agree if we were taking out the loan just to fix a leaky tap, put a new carpet down then yes. The announcement contains significant infrastructure upgrades and as a business we don't have a pot of accrued profit to dip into, so a loan is acceptable in these circumstances.
You’d agree if it was a new carpet, but not if it’s a new pitch?
Fixing or incrementally improving a thing is just run rate expenditure i.e. maintenance and leveraging up to do it is worrying.

It’s a welcome announcement and while the SoL has been allowed to become very shabby and is definitely in need of refurbishment and upgrades.

Think we need to go further. Spurs’ stadium and Everton’s - at least looking at there plans for outside the stadium - have shown that a stadium needs to be a revenue machine and not just once or twice a fortnight.

Fans may not like it, but to improve our standing with FFP and P&SC we need to significantly increase different income streams that aren’t reliant on 1st team games.

Although retractable pitch and roof may be a little beyond us!
