SOL expansion


So its defo gonna happen in a few years but as my seat in the east stand will turn into an box I hope we are relocated somewhere decent like. I'm not too keen on going up a level - I'm assuming east will mirror west.

If those effected, probably about 200 of us if its just the last 3 rows get first dips at new seats its all good but my family all sit together so I hope this is taken into account when we get moved.

Given whats happened recently under this interim CEO and TO management team you will probably have to go to bottom of the waiting list for new tickets or be offered only corporate tickets.

you might be put on in one of the 5 rows on the balcony of the away end - this would answer Tom Burwells statement of no segregation :lol:

He's right to a point, but I hope they do their market research before they commit as I have my doubts for how many people exist that are willing to spend these massive sums to watch Sunderland AFC. It's not an affluent city with many high paid jobs. Take Nissan- their blue collar factory is in Sunderland. The white collar technical office is in Canary Wharf.

Unless something drastic has happened since I last sat in a seminar about it, Sunderland has a massive shortage of graduate jobs and well paid jobs compared to other cities

I hope the research also takes into consideration that many supporters live outside of the North East and contribute to the local economy and the club. Many of whom have the finances for travel, hotels etc

If the East stand is going to be identical to the West Stand then everyone in the last 3 rows will be relocated to a section on new upper level. imho it would be grossly unfair to do it any other way

Or like said you'll end up in the tier below the away fans but that's kinda shit on you all.

The ticket office don’t seem to be particularly merciful towards those who keep them employed but as any extension will be a first under this ownership group the word may come down from on high hopefully
 
It would be an absolute scandal if those in the East Stand effected by the extension are told they will go on the waiting list for new tickets 🤯

Maybe someone needs to address this at the next meeting to make sure all are relocated fairly.

Yes i am sure any fans who can not be relocated will all get dodgy sticks at the least as compen. Disclaimer Please be aware there are many kinds of sticks

I'm nee finance expert but there's a bit more than just thinking about how many tickets at what price is what will pay back the investment. I think there would be more than 1,000 hospitality in the 2 new stands as the point is there is just 6% corporate at SAFC compared to say Everton at 16%.

It's now £815 (no loyalty) to sit in the centre of the East Stand on just a plastic seat and a join the rest of the 1,000s squashed in the concourse. It will be near £850 next season so I think it would be a little more than £1k each for premium seating in centre of the extended East stand given the prices paid for BCB behind a goal.

I've a feeling that £250m is the top price to do everything they could with all the fancy trimmings to maximise revenue, rather than just a bog standard roof off and a simple extension like what would have been done in the past. Look at the likes of Everton's East Stand for example and imagine our East stand like that, and some in the South Stand (possibly revamping of the West Stand also).

As I said, earlier, they'd probably change things around the stadium. Unfortunately what will also happen is that the seats in the middle of the upper East Stand will possibly become premium (also adding padded seats) pushing current fans into other areas of the ground, like has happened at many other grounds that will be cheaper. The concessions in the 'prime' areas certainly won't be as generous as again, over time, they will look to push the normal fans into areas that don't have a good a view.

They could even do what the mags are doing and have offsite premium seats by using the places in new Sheepfolds developments and having exclusive access to them on match days during certain times pre match.

It's also not just about match day ticket sales either as it will bring in revenue in other ways. If the club was worth £400m today and an expansion appeared tomorrow, it would also add instant value to the club. Even if it went to shit and we got sold, a bigger stadium would be more attractive to investors given it's a ready made stadium with potential high match day revenue.

Also increased revenue means more spending power for players and a better overall squad depth. Imagine if we had decent backups for players like Sadiki, Xhaka etc to allow for more rotation rather than what we have now. That in turn could mean finishing higher up in the league, further cup progress and just 4 places is £10m extra prize money. Higher places and progression means more TV exposure, more sponsoring/advertising, more global recognition etc.

Aye, it's mental money to spend. I'm not entirely sure TS would have came regardless when Anfield was an option. She's got a dedicated set of fans and the big stadium artists are moving to residencies now.
