SOL expansion


I've posted couple pics in the media section i took this morning of the lettering going up on South Stand. Don't know how to share them on the board here. :lol: :oops:

It's a bit odd they've left the bottom of the stand dirty there, would look perfect if it was all clean and finished

Aye I thought that would’ve been done ages ago when the rest of the stand was, god knows what’s happened there. Knowing us we’ll resume jetwashing it when the lettering is up and fuck up all the red colour on the letters ;).

Nah but on a serious note it’s looking class. Look forward to seeing the full thing on Friday.

I'm in complete agreement

The other biggie is the chance to significantly increase match day revenue via premium and corporate sales.

If we look good next season, at a suitable juncture, I'd be inclined to press the button on stadium expansion.

He says we have designs that take the capacity up to 59,000 and then goes on to say they'd be wanting around 3,000 of the extra 10k to be hospitality. Can only assume those designs refer to an east stand extension rather than south.

I wouldn't be surprised if 59k was extension east and south. Wasn't it apparently 63k if we extended the lot? If we now have 30-40% of the new extension being hospitality, that will impact on how much capacity you can increase by.

If that is the case then would this not be South Stand as well? IIRC the original plans Bob Murray had in place would take the capacity up to 62,000 with the full top tier extended around the ground. The North Stand extension lost a few rows when built which would reduce that number again. 59,000 isn’t far short of that total in any case.

Unless the plans are for a bigger East Stand extension but that would look daft next to a small South Stand.

There is different figures mentioned for a full extension over the years. General consensus is about 66k... so it would tie in with 10k plus 7k for south stand including the corner.

A real bug bear of mine is the plain corragated sheets around the ground. Would it be so hard to put something better over it? Something more aesthetically pleasing. Or paint it? Red and white,or red.

Ah I see, I was told when we were bidding for the 2018 world cup that it was a 66k extension that was baked into the designs so assumed the missing 7k would be the South.

Perhaps your right then, but unless we're going to be offering the option of a season ticket sofa, or a row of hot tubs available in the new design then 59k seems a bit low for a full extension.
