SOL expansion

Yeah. There will be single seats dotted all over the place that they'll struggle to sell even with demand. They really needed to move away fans elsewhere.

5 midweek rounds.

An East Stand/NE corner extension mirroring the opposite side would add roughly double that to the capacity.

You could then do a double tiered, narrow away end in the NEC.

They need an expansion mainly for corporate offerings but if you are paying all that money to do the work you'd be mad to not do bigger concourses/more seats at the same time. Phil Smith seemed to suggest the club have a new 5 or 10 year plan to make us an established prem club and that point we would need much larger coroporate capacity as well as probably more normal seats.

Wouldn't surprise me if the club looks to expand the east stand next summer.
I think with success we'd fill 55K, I just don't think our catchment area is big enough for more. Plus we have the mags 10 miles away. We need more corporate though, so they may 3/4 fill the east stand with seats and the rest with boxes/hospitality.

If we offered cheap seats like City are doing we may increase that.

If the safety team weren’t so anal and only left a few seats between home and away, we’d get more in now.
Wonder if now we’re back in the Premier League they will at least trial giving aways the balcony area of the Upper back? The missile throwing only started in League One, besides Man Utd in the League Cup semi it never happened in the PL. That would add 1k to capacity crowds straightaway.

They need to solve the single seats issue tbf. Why the system has allowed season tickets to be bought that leave a single seat is daft, but they just need to move people along the row to sort it. Would only mean you move 2 or 3 seats at most.
No doubt some people would moan, but it definitely makes sense. Looks like they're still allowing single seat gaps to be left too.

I 100% think any future expansion would start with the south stand, it’s the natural end to start with going round from the west, and also has more room behind it and the closest link to the town and new bridge.

Would be the East. Corporate sells better with a touch line view. Any expansion has bugger all to do with matchday attendances. It's about maximising corporate revenue and being atractive to major events. A South extensiom also wouldn't expand concert capacity as most acts have the stage at the south end.

I can't see it being an issue at the moment. It was the little clubs craving a big a rival that caused the issue.

Hopefully they open that section back up.

Long term they’ll become the new 76 yards seats once aways are moved to the a NEC.

Does like.

Makes perfect sense to expand the east stand, and expand the what the club can offer not only for footy matches but for other events, either concerts, functions, corporate events, other sporting events etc.
Of course it doesn't. There is nothing worse than playing in that stadium with swathes of empty seats. If we got relegated and went back down to 35-40k it would look shite. And the additional money wed make from the expansion from concerts would be negligible.

This is a football stadium. That's it's principle purpose. If we as a club can consistently prove that the capacity isn't big enough we should consider it. That has never been the case in 28 years of playing there. And last season we were regularly playing with 10k empty seats.

Great point tbh

Not wanting to reopen the whole debate, but can't see the away fans being moved to the NEC. Right next to the ticket office and club shop, and there would be a load of work needed on the concourses underneath.

The obsession to extend on here is bizarre. Threads were made when we were in League 1 too

People really need to come to the understanding that expansion isn't strictly seating capacity. It will be to add more corporate offering and continue to improve existing, which is desperately needed.

Hopefully the concourses and the offering for us plebs down below is also factored in as well

They’ll be pitch side for the start of 26/27, and I’ll eat my hat if it’s not the NEC.

Can’t see any other option tbh.

People are explicitly talking about shoving and extra tier on the east or south stands.

Modernising the existing structure, by extending concourses, would be an entirely different matter, and welcomed by most i think.
