Yes I know I made an arse of the quote thingy again. Just saves someone else pointing it out.

Which colliery was that like marra?
Easington, but there were plenty of Blackhall lads there that will verify it if you ask them. And also plenty from the villages west of the A19 too but of course, those were referred to as woolybacks.

I know about the woolyback (And the occasional sheep shagger hoyed in ) but never came across the cod head one unless it was directed at poolys.:D

What can I say......ask anyone who worked down the pit about the codheed/woolyback banter.

Not disputing it marra, worked at Blackhall pit for a while and never come across it before, you learn something new every day.:D

Exactly

Boro aren't in the north east there in Yorkshire

All depends on where people think the "North-east" is i suppose.
Yes , the River Tees was always the Durham/Yorkshire border , so Middlesbrough is in Yorkshire , but i've never read a "law" that states the North-East ends somewhere in County Durham.
Not that it matters - in my opinion the "North-East" is no better or worse than anywhere else.
Don't understand why people use the "Yorkshire" tag as a stick to beat Boro with - there's nowt wrong with being in Yorkshire.

'cos people, or some people, want tags. Others just beat away regardless :)

Given than Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough are all north and west of Greenwich, it's all a bit academicals really, isn't it?

hope you come up in any case, good for the north-east (or whatever it is) - on condition that we can take your manager if Gus goes.

Best thing to happen to us in years (Karanka).
Had our annual defeat to Ipswich yesterday and the players have been criticised by him , he says it as he sees it and also admits when HE'S got it wrong.
No evidence of any dummy spitting from the players either.
