It's actually a term used for people from a lot of coastal/fishing towns.Indeed they are, as with a host of other communities along the NE coast.

That explains a few things.
Who cares that he got the day wrong? The lad logged in with good intentions
Fair play lad. Most SAFC fans don't mind Boro, hopefully you get promoted and there's another North East club in the league. SAFC and Boro fans have one thing in common - we both hate the Mags![]()
& that's all it will be a pipe dreamThese smog types are strange.
He is dreaming of being in the prem next season.
Never heard that term applied to Easington despite living there for twenty odd years and spending over ten years at the colliery. Sorry. In mining terminology, its also someone from Easington, Horden etc. With the likes of Wingate, Shotton, Thornley etc being known as "woolybacks". Thought you'd have known that one Hank lad.
Can also be from hartlepool headland in certain colliery villages.
This nutter says he's from Grimsby though, clicked on his profile, talk about identity crisis.![]()

And if boro aren't north east then neither is Darlo .
I've lived in the blackhall area all my life and never been accused of being a cod heed. As I said earlier that's a term usually associated with residents of the headland at Hartlepool as far as I know. I know there are other parts of the country that use it though.Never heard that term applied to Easington despite living there for twenty odd years and spending over ten years at the colliery. Sorry.

So? Look at a map. Just because ancient men drew lines on one it doesn't change the position of a town man.An American living in Grimsby & supporting Boro. It doesn't really get much worse does it?
Darlo is in County Durham, Boro is in Yorkshire.

Crivvens !!!Most of the North East of England is above the most southern point of Scotland. By your logic that would make us all Scottish. Regions are defined by the counties that they are made up of, not their gps co-ordinates.
Middlesbrough is in Yorkshire. Yet it is also in the north east. Ditto Redcar and thornaby.Middlesbrough is in Yorkshire though

Jings and help ma boab. ( flower of Blackhall rocks doesn't have the same ring to it tho but.)![]()
Ask about mate, plenty of people used the codheed/woolyback terminology at the colliery. Is the boro thing aimed at me? I can't remember saying they weren't in the north east.Never heard that term applied to Easington despite living there for twenty odd years and spending over ten years at the colliery. Sorry.
