Smith not Robinson to keep wicket

So Key’s reasoning on Smith over Robinson (and others) basically boils down to a hunch. He sees Smith being the one that will be the one to play best v all those big named bowlers in different conditions.

He’s not the only one who thinks that
Bohannon at 3 has to be the next pick right? Think it's too high for Robinson to bat

Not for me. Not sure he’s got the game for international cricket
Was only there til he got into the 30s. But he looked so assured, every defensive shot came off the middle

Only issue for me with smith is he looks a top 5 batsman, who could possibly end up batting 4 or something

Is he a number 7 who bats with the tail

Dont know if it’s being mentioned but I do hope Robinson is not being selected due to him leaving Rob Keys county Kent ?

It helps Durham but the lad selected is not even first choice for Surrey

Just read that Bairstow still has a central contract, worth £800k a year until next November

He may not play at all?

Not his fault obviously

Reckon he might play more white ball stuff meself, and they might take him as spare keeper and batsman on the winter tours if his form picks up

I do think it’s worth pointing out that he’s the only player who did the World Cup in India, test series in India, full IPl then straight to another World Cup. He needed looking after at one point

The contracts were a bad idea though I agree

Haway man carty. Course course not. Rob Key just doesn’t select the team. He has one vote. Stokes gets the team he wants

Smith is an amazing talent like

It’s happened before . On figures alone Robinson is well ahead of Smith. Smith is behind foakes so not that amazing . He plays white ball as a keeper

You dont just select players based just off their average in the CC like

Smith is a freak talent and cant wait to see how he does

I think Smith will move up the order in the next couple of years and play as just a batsman. He looks seriously talented though.
Surely only via injury or ridiculous drop in form.

2-5 are all averaging 41+ under this setup.

I can't see Stokes or Root retiring until after Ashes 2027.

Maybe Robinson could be the next cab off the rank? How much longer does Stokes really have left?

After the Ashes can see Stokes retiring, Smith moving to six and maybe Robinson gets a shot at 7 with the gloves.
