Think it's fair to say this season was a complete waste of time.

Anyway, going forward into 2013, I'd like to offer someone else the chance to do the fixtures. Plenty of contacts available to anyone who wants to do it; simply a case of arranging them. This job will be done mainly because of the Vic Halom League (and hopefully Cup). The way I did it this season is to give each fixture a 'round' rather than a date so the game should have been played in the week beginning whatever, so all you'd need to do really is arrange friendlies against those who don't play in the VH league. Easy enough to do if you have the time to write an e-mail/ring someone.

Speaking of the VH League, I hope to have 2 more teams in it this season.

Moving away from the fixture side of things; we have a very generous (but not guaranteed) offer from Edd to move the SMB games to Littletown. The only downside I can see to this, is those who travel on public transport (er, me!) having to travel a little further. Positives include - not been restricted to certain days and most importantly a much cheaper pitch. The council are probably going to put the rates up again, which will make £3 a game cost effective as we'd need to play a load more games to cover the cost. If Littletown is available, we'd be able to pay much less and then the away games would basically be bankable to the club.

So, any takers for fixture sec job and thoughts on Littletown?

Firstly I think it was only a washout because of the weather affecting so many games, not sure there was any other reason?

Shame you want to hand it over cos done a cracking job up to now but if it's a bind then you've every right to hand it over to someone else.

I couldn't do the job justice so won't be putting myself forward to do it, I have too many work commitments where I'm not available or it would be difficult to keep on top of arrangements etc and I'd only end up cocking it up.

As for Littletown, a bit further to travel for me but not a problem, if it's better overall for the club financially and easier to make appointments due to the flexibility then I'm all for it.

Cheers for everything you've done so far though Andy, I appreciate the fact everything is all arranged and I only have to tip up.

My sentiments exactly. I would love to be involved more than I am but I really cant commit due to my work and now Mrs H's.
Over the past couple of years you have done a stirling job (apart from the odd hiccup!!) and I think a big thank you is well deserved from all of the SMB, if you hadnt done what you had then there would have been a lot less cricket play by all.
As for moving to Littletown, I think it is a no brainer, so that gets my vote.

cheers aleem and thanks again

It's not a bind, but since the end of last season I've gone from casual work to full time work and often finish as late as midnight after a 12noon start. That's why this season has been tough for me to keep on top of. Best instance that comes to mind was a game called off roughly 5:30 but I was at work so couldn't access e-mails/texts. Poor Butsy still went to Houghton to find no fucker there. I know I've often asked someone to make a judgement on weather if I know I'm at work but often forget to pass contact details on. Would ideally be someone who can access an email account and/or their phone during usual hours. I could but it would mean mysterious trips to the bog every so often during peak times. But I suppose one way around it might be to have me arrange the games then ask someone to keep on top of contacting people if it's off.

The comment about it being a waste of time was aimed at the weather, aye. But it's also become noticable that numbers have dwindled. Your Matty, Andy P, Dale and a few others have discovered lasses (Andy), beer (Matty) and work (me) or have suffered injury (Dale). Hopefully next year this will not be the case.

Every other week this season.

i'll still play every possible game and Anth and Chris will as well.

so there is 3 definites for sure, I could give Roy and Adam lifts if they still fancied a game for SMB as to get to Littletown from washy it wouldn't be that small a diversion.

I can't commit to anything as i start a new job and have no idea on the workload however i will be able to take calls and have access to e-mails so would be willing to help in contact due to weather cancellations etc.

you never know who's going to sign up on the board so it's be a shame for the smb cc to die out.

I agree, it would be a shame if the smb games came to an end, we have struggled to get 11 people in for awhile now. That and the weather / lack of fixtures this year has left the team short financially. Any idea what the pitch fees are this year andy? I can't see us being able to commit to the usual block booking with the council next season.

A decent run of weather and I'm sure we'll play a load again next year.

Andy what was the VH table?

Who owes what money?

Nee idea. Most clubs haven't been able to get games on. And if they have, no results have been sent to me!

And again, nee idea on the money situation. Mick deals with that.

Just my opinion but I would like to see a few people have access to the contacts to organise games it doesnt have to be one person i dont mind organnising a few if i have time most home games could be done in march also smb fixtures should be updated regularly on the board. only those in the nearby area should be able to call games off as a couple of games where called off without even consulting people. If we go to littletown booking games in will be far easier and less costly but ATM can't guarantee anything

Edds got some and andy has money from the previous season which i haven't managed to collect yet. All in we should have enough to cover the pitch fee we should request a reduction as fixtures were abandoned due to weather, which would give us some to carry over to next year.

From memory the council WON'T give a reduction based on the number of games played. This is why the pitches are booked for 16 weeks and I only worry if we go near/over 16 games. If I turn around and say we only played 6 (I think...) home games they will probably say we're going to charge you 6 x full price.

Off work tomorrow so will get the bill sorted.
