SMB Tennis thread (note there is a specific Wimbledon 22 thread)

The most drama I have seen for a while.

Serena's coach was doing hand gestures trying to move her up the court, which isn't allowed in the slams. Wasn't really SWs fault but still not allowed. Serena given a warning and then kicked off. She them slammed her racket later and was given a point penalty. She then called the umpire a thief and promptly lost a full game and it was all kicking off. Supervisors and all sorts, fans jeering. Naomi served it out but the win has been completely overshadowed.
She's always been a sore loser

Back to an attacking slam winner on the women's side after 4 defenders or 'counter punchers' in a row.

Always great to see a talented youngster really burst on the scene and that's 2 of the biggest 5/6 trophies that she has now won in 2018.

I remember about 18 months ago you tipped Osaka for big things.

Very talented and has the potential to be a massive star with the country she is representing, but also growing up in America. Her and Sabalenka going forward could make for some very exciting times.

On a side note, Iga Swiatek who you mentioned not long ago has now just broken into top 200 after a good run in the ITFs.

It was absolutely class from Osaka. Superb first set which probably was a trigger in all the drama that unfolded after, but 20 years old, first slam final and to keep her cool and hold it all together to serve it out was fantastic. Brilliant performance.

Should well be set for a place in the Year End Championships now.
