Lena, a young Polish immigrant working as a cleaner at an airport, is invited to the family home of a co-worker, which turns sinister quickly as the family intend to 'adopt' her. 5.9 on IMDB

7/10 from me as a horror fan. It remind's me of inside No.9.
It's class and grim in equal measure.

Rise of the Footsoldier: Vengeance (2023)

These films are a bit of a guilty pleasure for me, mainly because I find Craig Fairbrass so watchable. He’s utterly one dimensional, but really suits these (ahem) one dimensional lunkhead roles.

For all intents and purposes, it’s a cliched, low quality film. Not much of it makes sense, and it hides its clunkiness behind violence and cahnts. Yet, taken for what it is, I quite like it. It’s honest and doesn’t try to be something more profound. Loads will hate everything about it, but I’m not one of them.

4/10 as a film. 7/10 for enjoyment.
Stick with the 7/10 only marra, drop the 4 😉👏

ROTFS Marbella is one of my particular favourites (cobra solid 7/10) , your right about fairbrass, in these films he juts seems very watchable and suits the role perfect. Daft enjoyment for me and makes me laugh when he loses his shit

Sliverado (1985) 7/10
Not at all how I remembered it. I thought John Cleese had a major role - it's really just a cameo. I also remembered it being a comedy, but it's very much in the classic Western tradition. Kevin Costner in a supporting role that proved to be his big break.

Morvern Callar (2002) 8/10
First-rate filmmaking, but incredibly bleak. Even Spain comes across as depressing. (Alan Warner, author of the orginal book, lived in the same town as me in Spain - I think it was the film rights to this that enabled him to buy his place there.)

Secrets & Lies (1996) 9/10
Classic Mike Leigh. Some of the acting comes close to caricature, but then that's the point. His films aren't realism, they're more savvy than that.

The third of the planned 28 years later films is officially in development. Been waiting for this news since the first was released (part 1 and 2 shot back to back).
I'll keep my excitement on ice until I've seen the second installment, given how jarring and downright weird the first one ended.

Is that the one with Sharon Stone getting naked?

Worth it for Russell Crowe, and the unsettling feeling of being sympathetic - for a while, at least - towards Hermann Göring and his family. Rami Malek is so bad you can't take your eyes off him. It's like his Bond villain has strayed into the wrong film.
It's on at the local multiplex tomorrow afternoon for the cheap matinee, tempted by having a beer and watching it

It Ends (2025)

Went into it without knowing much about it
Big mistake, what a waste of 1 and a half hours of my life.

Possibly the biggest load of shite I’ve ever seen.

Just don’t.

0/10

One Battle After Another - Decent enough watch, but all I thought about at the end of it was, what is everyone raving on about? Have I missed something, a hidden message, divine enlightenment? It's a 7/10 in my book, as I probably wouldn't rewatch it, one and done film.
Just watched it I thought it was very poor.. 2 and a half hours il never ger back..

Violent Night (2022)
A rather humourous jaunt following the rather jaded Santa (David Harbour) getting caught up in a deathly hostage situation at a affluent fortified residence.
I thought it was great, there were a fair few laugh out loud, violent and touching moments - a veritable feast on the eyes.
Loved it, I'd give it an 8/10 ♥️👍🎅⛄🎄
