I know it's probably outrage clickbait, but some of these hot takes - especially re Metropolis - are punchable offences.

The Exorcist 1973 - Thought it was a bit dated to be honest and not as good as i remember though the scene where the priest pulls up at night in a taxi , The mist and the street lights with Oldfields Tubular Bells playing in the background is excellent.
Another one where i might have to read the book as i've heard it's excellent.

The Exorcist remains one of the greatest films ever. It's multi layered.

Its utterly impossible to give any credibility to a writer who, when speaking of the original Planet Of The Apes, says "These kinds of films simply call for proper CGI".
 
Karate Kid Legends - what you would expect nothing new 6/10

Megan 2.0 - Very Sci-Fi rather than horror in comparison with the first film. Bit like a terminator film from wish. 5/10

Jurassic World Rebirth - I still enjoy these movies, usual thing but entertaining enough. Better than the previous 2.

Seen it when BBC4 showed it last year for the 40th. It’s still bloody terrifying now.

‘The Commitments’ was last nights BBC film, I haven’t seen it for a few years but it’s still brilliant.

Fun facts: writer Charlie Kaufman was actually trying to adapt a book, The Orchid Thief, but struggled with it. Instead he dramatised his writer's block by imagining himself (played by Cage) having a fictional twin brother who isn't riddled with anxiety and self doubt and writes successful blockbusters. The character played by Meryl Streep is Susan Orlean, the writer of the book he was trying and failing to adapt. She was apparently unimpressed by his idea of making up a plot about her starting her own home-made drug operation and suchlike. Fortunately she came round to it. Charlie's fictional twin brother is credited as a co-writer of the screenplay and as a result is one of the only fictional characters to be nominated for an Oscar, a BAFTA and a Golden Globe

Been looking out for that, but the only thing I found was a silver screening at the Tyneside where they don't let anyone under sixty in.

One I need to chalk off my list of seeing it on the big screen as it's my second favourite film of all time, so hopefully somewhere local gets it on, although I'm not holding my breath.

I have just watched this. I wish I had read your review beforehand. I know it's a mindless action film and not a kitchen sink drama, so maybe expecting gritty realism was asking too much, but the body count is in the hundreds, they must have gone through half a million rounds of ammunition (often from semi automatic handguns that somehow function in full auto mode and hold unlimited bullets) and the baddies can't hit anyone when 50 of them attack a shed with assault rifles, while the goodies are the most lethal marksmen in history - immediate killshots with any weapon from any range. I have seen roadrunner cartoons that were less far fetched.
