Sibley

1. Burns
2. Sibley
3. Denley
4. Root
5. Stokes
6. Pope
7. Foakes

That is a top 7 for all conditions.

there is absolutely no chance that Ben Foakes is our first choice wicket keeper, you can twist, laugh and put as many emojis as you want,he just isn't, hes bang out of form, and Buttler and Bairstow are much better batters

Buttler to get the nod in NZ, Bairstow given a break, but he will be back,

Foakes needs a year in county cricket scoring big runs if he wants to be first choice

I know you don't like me, but if you are gonna judge wicket keepers on runs and want them dropping, rightly so, like you have with Bairstow. then please judge everyone by the same measure. I am droping Bairstow too, but he kept really well this summer, so the argument that you just want the best keeper is just nonsense, we don't need that in England.

Sibley all but confirmed for NZ, Denly moving to 3, Root in at 4.

Good news, Denly getting messed about a bit, but I like it.

What is the logic for foakes over buttler? I get dropping bairstow 100% but buttler At 7 seems a better option than foakes with his current form. The rest of it I would have the same like.

Just on the basis that he's a better gloveman, mate. I'm not entirely sure that Buttlers glovework would stand up to Test level.

That said, if they decided to give Buttler the gloves at 7, I wouldn't grumble - it's worth a go.

Yeah I guess that’s the issue. Foakes is clearly the best gloveman out of him, bairstow and buttler but I think with the fragility of our batting currently we probably need the runs there. I would give buttler a go at 7 with the gloves and if his keeping doesn’t hold up then he has to be out of the side as he has shown to me he can’t play in the top 6 as a specialist batsman.

Has he? Hes averaged 39 since he came back into the term as a specialist batter and had a cracking summer last year against good attacks on very bowler friendly pitches last season. His form has tailed off but he looks a good player to me. I would prefer him at 7 to give Bairstow a break but Buttler has done alright.

Possibly harsh from me, just think he looks a far more comfortable player at 7 where he has the freedom to play his shots a bit more. Plus I really want to see pope given a good run at 6.

Personally speaking I don't think Buttler is a Test cricketer, but I'm happy to see someone like Pope in for the sulker, Buttler given the gloves, and see how he gets on - he didn't do bad when he was the Test keeper a few years ago.

I think Foakes should be in the side, especially if the order I posted before came to fruition as I don't think his runs would be THAT vital, but I'd not get out of my pram if Buttler was given a run.

If the ginger crybaby keeps his place though, it'll be a disgrace.

He’s better but bairstow is good and is international standard

He kept better than paine

Foakes won’t add much by being better gloveman in England and South Africa

He gets in if he scores more runs

He wont

Although I like his style of batting when he’s in form

You’re becoming beyond parody

The"ginger cry baby" will retain his place for exactly that reason together with a dose of nepotism from his mate Joe Root.
NZ tour ,however, must be last chance saloon.
