just reading lots of the anti short views on here, and was wondering what's everybody's views on both of these, who in their own way seem to have fucked up north east football. Both have made disastrous appointments, both have backed managers. One has blatantly taken from his club with naming rights etc, the other probably hasn't taken anything personally.

Which would you honestly prefer, or should we have stuck with the bob murrays and Freddie shepherds?

Ashley.

Both have made mistakes. Both have backed managers. Difference is Ashley has continued backing his because it's the only way to turn it round. Short has given up. I'd gladly rename the stadium to the stadium of light @sportsdirect.com

given a choice Ashley, he's not all bad, just made some stupid decisions he didn't need to make, and apologised for them .

he's backed managers with serious cash, present included, not his fault they bought duds. financially we are sound, unlike you's.

Mike Ashley has more business acumen in his Lonsdale underpants than Ellis Short has housed in Skibo Castle.

Short tried and failed miserably to copy Ashley's business model. Buy cheap sell big had that lot turning a profit. It's the fans there that need to wake up to the huge shift in power in football. They were a big draw for a short period of time, but like the rest of us they are just making up the numbers now as the rich get richer and the rest try to stick to FFP rules. They cant take it and Ashley gets the wrath of the nayshun of geordie. Granted he did things that pissed them off, like changing the name of the ground etc, but its a way of generating revenue. One of them for me had a business model that worked for a while, and stuck to it regardless. They suffered 2 relegations yet could go out and pretty much buy promotion. The other tried many different approaches and despite having 10 years of premier league cash we are unable to compete financially in a league below and the club is a f***ing shambles.

They have both made mistakes but money has f*cked up NE football. Due to the massive Sky finances, you have to chuck silly money at players to attract them to the provinces.
Players are all just mercenaries and it is easy for them to go through motions knowing that they are set up for life.

Superb? Pushing it somewhat
They are a financially solvent and self sufficient football club. He tried to appease and saw that was stupid so just went about putting the whole thing back together. In the relative comparison, his have been top notch whereas we tried to cultivate (no pun intended) the African market amongst other disasters.

Morning fatty.

Get Fooked Bisto boy

Nee match like, Ashley has them running well financially and there a league above us, where's we are fucked financially and look to be stuck here until we are either sold or fluke a promotion.
