Valenti’s was higher up before it moved there....on the site where a new coop was built, now British Heart Foundation.

Don’t know about the ship owner.

I remember the old "tripe stall" in Jackie Whites.
There was an old woman running it who sold things like cow heel, honeycomb tripe, cow's uwer (udder), pigs trotters, brawn etc.

Think those buildings were from the 1700s and they were demolished.

Unbelievable.

Was just about to say that they were the oldest buildings in the town before they were demolished. Sunderland Council have done more damage to Sunderland than the Luftwaffe ever did.
