Sheff Wed - financial issues

This is utterly disgusting.

A community club, with a proud tradition as long as this league itself, is in jeopardy due to mismanagement. Could so easily have been us. We might never know how close we came.

The Premier League was initially created as a cartel to hog the sport's revenue. It has succeeded massively. Premier League clubs enjoy a massive financial advantage over lower division clubs, to the point that these days, any newly promoted clubs start life there as strong favourites for relegation. The parachute money is there as a sop, so any club with the misfortune to be relegated to the Championship will start the next three seasons with a large financial advantage there.

That's why Championship clubs are stretched financially to compete. Anyone becoming a custodian of a Championship club is taking on an uphill task. I can imagine that people wanting to do this who have the wedge are few and far between, and consequently some charlatans will slip through the "fit and proper" tests due to the lack of candidates.

We have managed our resources and rode our luck and bucked the trend regarding non-parachute payment clubs being promoted. We are about to become beneficiaries of this flawed system. Sheffield Wednesday haven't been as fortunate in the club ownership lottery as we have, and this is the scary consequences.

I hope Wednesday pull through, and they can find an owner who is truly a fit and proper custodian to run this great football club.

Clubs in freefall, I honestly wouldn'tbe surprised if we dropped to league 1 next year , and further the season after.
We have a manager who wants out, and his backroom staff who are out of contract next week, players haven't been paid ..again, and the EFL do sod all about the "Fit and proper persons" laws, even though our Chairman fails with this time after time.
The highest priced season tickets in the division go on sale at Christmas ..The money runs out before the season ends..Chansiri says its "Cashflow" problem...course it is...he's spent it..and theres nothing coming in now.
You got fans clinging on to rumours like sodding shipwrecked sailors...Latest one on Owlstalk?....Bloke in a pub got told by a barmaid we are getting taken over next week..Oh well thank f.ook for that I can stop worrying!
I can copewith disa;ppointment , its the sodding hope that drags yer heart out...I would take League 1 and 2 to get rid of this clown, whats another few years of being treated like twats?...we've had a quarter of a century standing for it.
Owls fans have had a few days celebrating what you lot did to United,,,,,Instead of focusing on what this idiot incumbent is doing to us....Its like dancing on the tracks with yer backs to the train coming...
I genuinely feel for you mate, good club, great supporters, decent people. Being treated like shite by some fucktard with no connection or commitment to the club. Hope it all works out and you're back challenging soon.

Surely not
Baffling me mate...Chansiri has been reported as declining 2 recent offers to buy the club in this last week...Why do that if you are heading for administration
You would have to be a complete idiot....then again...

Yea...watch this space

Owls fans started a go fund me for the lower paid employees at the club who havent been paid....I honestly wasn't going to bother...I mean f.ook me..whats your remit as a fan?....Then I remembered a lass at the ticket office who sorted me out when I lost me season ticket last season, She was great...She also said ....."I bet you find it as soon as you get home"...It was in me shoe under the fookin' bed!

Its a long story mate...which sorta starts in The New Barrack Tavern...on Penistone road Friday before the game.....
Me and a few mates were discussing tactics fort the game next day.....So I got home a little worse for wear...Lad picked me up on The Saturday ....and we went into The Horse and Jockey pre match...."My names Andy ...I'm an alcoholic"...Any road up....I went to get a round in...use me bank card...and noticed me season ticket wasn't in me wallet..too late to go home..kicked off in15 minutes minutes so shot to the ticket office...Lass behind the counter took my details and suggested she could either print me a ticket out for that game if I thought I would find me lost card, or give me a new season ticket card...I went for the card...cos I could remember sod all about the previous night

There's usually one club promoted that didn't have parachute payments. Us this year, Ipswich the year before, Luton the year before that, Forest the year before etc etc.

At the minute our biggest asset is a 15 year old kid who looks like he's off to Man City for £1.5m

After that we're struggling.

Can I interest anybody in a full set of training bibs & cones? Yours today for a very reasonable £10m ;)

Don't you have a reasonably old squad

This is a really worrying time for you all and i hope that things are going to improve. Not looked at your squad but you must have some gems to sell on our previous owners sold a lot of academy players.

Your biggest asset is Barry Bannan. It always will be Barry Bannan. All hail Barry Bannan.

Sheff Wed seem to have had ongoing financial issues ever since they were relegated from the premier league 25 years ago. Tbh, it could have been us and I think we've been fortunate. When we were in league one I was thinking it could be decades before we get back into the top flight.
We may only last one season in the Premier league, but I just hope the money secures the club's future for the foreseeable, and if we end up back in the championship we are in good shape both on (by championship standards) and off the pitch.

Wednesday dipped out of The Prem before parachute payments, dropped to league 1 , got back....went all out for a couple of years, reached Wembley for the Play off final then combusted under this idiot
Sunderland will find it hard next year, any Championship club would as shown by The Blades, Southampton, Burnley, Ipswich etc.
But, once you have done it WITHOUT parachute payments like such as Sunderland and The Blades first time...You have a massive advantage if you drop next year...I know its probably not what you all want to hear, but its a means to an end that may well only be a couple of years coming...Hope you buck the trend and stay there...after so long out of it and fans tipping up in numbers to watch crap...You deserve it

Didn't you get a young prospect from PSG? Is he any good?
