Sheff Wed - financial issues

I've got my boots ready!!

Honestly I think we shall play, we have enough players to make a squad, although if we didn't because of strike action, the fans would be right behind the players.
Think I’ll be on the Leicester to win by at least 2 on my bets tbf, would love you lot to pull off a miracle this season but I can’t see it. :(

I'm personally just so bored of it all to be honest. I didn't even know who we were playing on Saturday until this afternoon.

My usual enthusiasm for an owls game has been completely eroded. Can't even remember the last time I even went on the owls forums to see what's happening.
Shame. Things were looking promising for you's not too long ago. The game is knackered when stuff like this can happen so easily

Yes, a tragedy for SWFC - a proper, traditional club, with an excellent support.
Unfortunately, can see it happening again, despite this new Government appointed Football regulator.
Hope things turn around quickly for the Owls...

Will the points deductions start to mount up?

They'll get docked some for failure to pay wages on time, then more on top for a winding up order. Will the resulting entering of administration also knock points off?

So is relegation inevitable? Is it actually beneficial for this to happen then as it'll mean a new owner will know where they stand and knowing that there'll be no extra point deductions next season waiting in the shadows?

It’s f***ing shite and precisely why an independent regulator is required.

They’d have forced Chansiri to sell a long time ago.
What happens if nobody wants it and who pays the costs between when the IFR says we are forcing the sale to when the deal is done? With all the debts football clubs seem to enjoy getting and old stadiums that need money spending on them there will be a lot of clubs that are not even worth £1 so finding somebody daft enough (not for Sheffield Wednesday but many clubs) isnt going to be an easy or cheap task.

What is amazing though, and must be some consolation, is that despite everything you’ve been through and continue to go through, you’re still above your rivals- joint favourites for the title at the start of the season- in the league. Utterly incredible. I hope it stays that way.

Exactly, a lot of support on here for Wednesday and their fans, but a lot of it is really only based on sentiment and pipe dreams isn’t it, the reality is that Wednesday have become a basket case of a club, Chansiri says he wants £100M for the club, well that’s clearly never going to happen.
Which fool hardy person/organisation would put any decent amount of money the way of Chansiri to buy them and then have the expense of rebuilding them and the ground ( it allegedly requires major refurbishment) , I can’t see a solution, unless Chansiri walks away.

There were rumours hes got money agaisnt the club so if thats true even if the IFR comes in and says right we are taking it off you those loans still exist are the EFL really going to pay wages till they find a buyer whos willing to even pay 1p and take on any form of debt? They might get lucky here but what happens when team X in league 2 who's ground is 100 years old and basically 3 stands? EFL clubs arent going to just accept they have to fund other clubs messes.
Why has HMRC waited so long?
probably dont want to be the reason they shut up shop. They wouldnt get 100% if they ceased to exist so probably better just hoping they pay would be my guess.

The IFR is just bedding into his new role.
I hope the Sheff Wed folder is top of the in-tray, certainly he's started to reach out to supporters' groups already.
Whatever happens is going to be an awful mess, horribly drawn out and subject to one court case after another sadly (see Portsmouth for details).
On the subject of Portsmouth I wonder if the Sheff Wed Supporters Trust taking over the club as Pompey's did with theirs is on the list of the options on the Regulator's desk.
It's a long road either way.
