Agree I was told OSB rather than ply, chip or mdf as OSB is waterproof, looking at billboards in my area and other hoardings that does seem correct.

MDF is terrible for outside, high humidity or environments where there’s moisture. It absorbs the moisture and expands, shrinks and delaminates. Suffers from mould easily too.

Replaced mine on my last house 12.5 mm OSB , felt and tacks - mornings job on a 6’ x 4’ shed. Don’t forget a line of ridge felt.

Replaced the lot as the other bits were on their way out anyway.

I was so pleased I even made a nice finial for the roof pike junction for that Arts and Crafts flourish.

Hole in the shed roof, looks like through the felt and through the wood roof. Is it worth fixing it, how do you fix it or do professional roofers bother with such a small job?

mine went the same way. I stripped the felt, put a sheet of marine ply over the hole and refelted the whole thing.

I hadn’t heard of that before. Someone I know did his with corrugated sheets from wickes.

It’s mainly used on commercial buildings with flat roofs. Corrugated sheets, they were the days.

I just pulled the felt up on mine and replaced it with rubber. Easily lasts 10 years and was a doddle to fit, just used a sealant and a roller.
