Seems like everyone wants us to win on Sunday

We’ll have to agree to disagree on this. For Newcastle to successfully progress in the league, they need to get more points than the teams around them. Wanting the teams around them to win doesn’t help them move up the league.
The mags I work with have gone into this weired mode where they're being very complementary about us. Even the mouthy one was going on about how we should be pushing for Europe rather just been happy with what we've achieved. It's a front imo to try and dampen down the piss taking. Inside they're absolutely destroyed and will be itching for us to lose.

Yes I get your totally but to call my mates fuckin stupid I don’t get at all. They’re aren’t your typical mags, they mock them as much as we do and they’re just normal football fans who support their team. I’d take a massive punt and guess about 80% of football fans want spurs down so it’s hardly going to be likely that every single mag wants us to lose tomorrow, after the season they’ve had, as the possibility of spurs going down becomes a reality, I dare say in a few weeks if the league table was similar and they played spurs I’d probably want the mags to win that too.
To be fair it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever for them to want us to win. If the roles were reversed and they were ahead of us in the pack why would we possibly want them to win this weekend to the detriment of our chase for a European spot. We could then rightly be labelled 'buffoons' IMO.

See, that makes sense.

Just like when they told us the Saudi takeover was good for us too cos they were going to invest in the region. Say any old shite to save face. Apparently now Tottenham doing shit is high on their priority list
I for one hope we do
Seconded

Every fan in the country should be wanting to see members of the original PL forming big 5 splitters relegated. Even more so the ESL splitters anarl. “For the good of English football my arse”.

It's our form that has created this relegation battle because people expected us to occupy the bottom 3 and create a buffer for the other teams which is what normally happens. The result of us doing so well is that it has massively increased the number of points needed to survive.

The mags want Spurs to drop because they genuinely think they will replace them in the so called big six.
1. They are not currently the 7th biggest club in the league.
2. The big six will turn into the big five.

You can understand why I’m confused. Newcastle supporters who want the teams around them to pick up more points at the detriment of their team’s league position when there’s 7 games left to get into a European competition?
12th v 11th doesn’t really make that much difference, spurs going down would be a huge event

I for one, would like to see SAFC win on Sunday!! By as many goals as possible.

I'd like to see us do that, if we can, in every game until the final whistle in the Chelsea game at home. I'm strange like that.

I'd also like as many results as possible to go our way during that period. If that shoves Spurs or anyone else nearer the trapdoor down or allows us to move up towards European places than it's a win-win.

(Ideally the PL gets its act together, finally comes to a decision and relegates Citee to the lowest possible place in the football pyramid due to their cheating. Following an appeal, by Everton, Forest and Villa, they also decide that Chelsea's punishment was too weak so retrospectively relegate then to the bottom of the conference. Wolves and Burnley stay up.)

It's a very tight season with many teams taking more than their expected points haul; take nothing for granted in this league, but I think Spurs did.

I must be the only person who doesnt want Spuds to go down.

They'll just do what Rangers did and hoover up all the best talent in the championship / from the newly promoted sides and waltz back up.

Would rather see West Ham or Forest drop and hope they stay down there.

Just the rest of this season, it would be good for the league IMO if they go down

Ideally we finish above the mags too

I do want to indulge the passionate fan in me and think this could be the start of a new era. The days of the usual culprits dominating with their billions and World Cup winning players winning every title and cup in sight for years are over, and the likes of Brentford and Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are beginning to take over with their shrewder, more sensible, long term fiscal strategy for sustainability. If we can become part of this new wave of established smaller but better run clubs then that can only be a good thing. I don't want the league title. I don't want Europe. I don't want the FA Cup. I don't want the EFL Cup. I just want us to be equally compared to the likes of Nottingham Forest, Everton and Crystal Palace and be as good as them. Right now we are years behind them. They are all much bigger and better clubs than we are. But this new era of greater care over the income and expenditure could see us get real close to being as good as the teams I have mentioned and may even give their fans a sleepless night thinking about the fact little old Sunderland are as good as they are and may win the upcoming game.

Think a few teams this season have had the shock of their lives, because they were complacent enough to think that the three promoted teams were going to be just cannon fodder as usual.

I'm pleased that it's Scott "Scottie" Parker who's team has been the one to be unable to buck the trend this season. Not, I hasten to add, due to any dislike or ill will to Burnley; a solid Northern club, well supported in an area where theres a lot more appealing teams round about for the more casual armchair fan, any other occasion I would always want another Northern team in the PL over Southern ones. But Parker is, for me, the epitome of that swaggering 'cockney' arrogance, an ex-mag to boot, but who seems to be another sweetheart of the Sky clique despite being a serial bottle job. Get it reet up ye Scottie lad.

I think that for many it’s a case of shits and giggles if an ‘established BIG SIX’ club was relegated.

To see how many of their fans were tourists.

To see them play a team like Lincoln city away (no disrespect to them, they’ve done well).

To be fair the genuine spuds fans could have a decent experience for a season….
