How have I "written him off"?

Same argument as Jones, these lads should be broken in in the middle order when stepping up. Opening is the toughest job in cricket.

Seems to imply you’d be dropping him. The mere fact you’ve said he isn’t ready equates to writing him off.

As I said, nobody can be judged on a solitary inning.
