Scrooge

They mention a red suit in the poem ‘‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ IIRC which was written in the mid 19th century.
Nah they don't:

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

Written by a yank, anyway.

Slightly random but I saw Alistair Sim playing Captain Hook in Manchester in about 1967 (Anita Harris played Peter Pan iirc).

At the time I was more thrilled at seeing the bloke from the St Trinians films but I do think he's second to none in Scrooge.

Anyway, Merry Christmas one and all!

The musical with Albert Finney is our favourite. It’s amusing and dark at the same time. Finney is marvellous. I like the other versions as well, mind.
This.
We sat up and watched it late last night when the bairn went to sleep. I got took to thebpictures to see it when I was about five and had nightmares with the ‘future’ scenes but still love it now.
I hate people
I like life
Thank you very much
Father Christmas

Superb stuff! (I’m a martyr to my own generosity!)

I watch A Christmas Carol every year. I love Alistair Sim. I want to be him.
