Sean Dyche and Stevie G…… Christ

We should remember that this could easily have been us, if we weren’t owned and managed by people who actually have their ear to the ground of European football.

Imagine Louis Dreyfus and Ghisolfi having a crunch meeting and concluding that either Sean Dyche or Stevie G is the right man for the job.

Poisoned chalice that role
They will continue to be a yo yo club when they won’t spend money after promotion
Most of money spent this season was turning loans into permanents
Kompany saw writing on the wall
The owner is very frugal and I just don’t see him changing.

Sean Dyche may have been a failure at Notts Forest ( among many ) and his football isnt nicest on the eye but most clubs he has managed it has been on a shoestring
Moyes has been given untold riches at Everton in comparison to what Dyche had
Gerrard to me is like Keane. Living off his football CV and relying on chequebook

Fair point - Dyche deserves a lot more respect than Gerrard - but Le Bris can set up a team to defend as well as Dyche (last two games notwithstanding), but he offers so much more. Dyche is a one-trick pony and when it doesn't work he pleads poverty.

It’s an odd one to call. I see people saying he has a ceiling and that he is a good championship manager but a poor premier league one, which o don’t get as to me it would seem that the owners at Burnley are happy to yo yo between the 2 divisions and I believe focus more on their own individual dividends by not spending when they are promoted. I’m nit suggesting Parker is a great or even good premier league manager, but I do think this has to be a consideration.

My fear for this season is exactly what happened to Burnley - that we'd get relegated and lose faith with everyone who got us up.

I'm not sure if Parker is a great manager or not, but he did a great job last season and Burnley haven't especially disgraced themselves this season. It's not the worst thing in the world to spend 2-3 seasons bobbing between the leagues, great way to get the clubs finances in a place where you could make a proper go of things.

It’s not really that strange is it? He’s clearly just got a ceiling.

Similarly Mick McCarthy and lots of others - Dyche included imo, solid football league managers, and there’s nothing wrong with that. EPL is only for elite coaches now. Only the fittest survive!

Strange time to part with him though, now that their relegation is confirmed why not keep him for next season as he has a good Championship record? The correct time to bin him is after promotion from the Championship.

Burnley are fully in that cycle where they’re using the parachute money to build a very good Championship team, which then restricts what they can do transfer wise when they come up. I’m sure a lot of their spend this season was on obligations to buy players they had on loan last year.

Fully expect Ipswich and Southampton to be the same next season if they come up.

Le Bris is easily an upper half Premier League manager and will undoubtedly be equally competitive in the Champions League if we ever reach that stage.

Surprised with that, Bellamy next ?

Maybe not. He's got a contract with Wales through to the end of the Euros in 2028 and wants to see it through by all accounts. Maybe a non starter unless they let him do both jobs, which would open a canny can of worms if one was doing well and the other wasn't.

I’m not buying the “oh well Burnley were always going to struggle” narrative.

They must have spent north of £100m and weren’t that far off our transfer spend.

They strike me as that type of club who are only 1 poor season in the Championship away from fading into obscurity for the next 30 years.
