must have a chance of playing now. It seems like he got good wickets aswell - all of the top 4 & no.6 instead of tail-enders like Steve Finn the other day - so its possible to see a team with 3 spinners

He can bat and field as well. I'm nowhere near as ashamed that he got me out about 15 times over the years, now.

My BIL knows Borthwick and his father, Borthwick was shocked when he went to India, all the women loved him, he thought he wouldnt get recognised over there.

Also his hero is KP and in one over in the nets Borthwick bowled KP 3 times in one over, KP went mental. Bit of a dickheed
SB was gutted.

Ive got SB one day Durham top in the house.

Bollocks, Scott's not left-handed

Arguably has the potential to be Durhams best ever Test match product.

Got a big mountain climb to be that. Overtaking Collingwood will be tricky enough but Steve Harmison climbed to number 1 test bowler in the world rankings and was arguably the most feared fast bowler for a period of time.

Probably get some stick for this and I know he's raw but I've never been to fussed by his bowling.

His stats don't make great reading but there's definitley something there. England have done the right thing by involving him early so his learning process is as extended as possible. Excellent fielder and handy bat too so got all the attributes to be a very exciting cricketer IMO.

good in all aspects of the game but a master of none springs to mind

Hes certainly doesnt come across as a leggie thats going to bamboozle top drawer batsmen but I think the mystery of leg spin isnt what it was. He comes across as a cricketer with really good mental strength. I think he will have a good international career especially in the one day format.

So we've given up on Adil Rashid id take it?

look at the likes of Mushy and Kaneria. -Bamboozled county batsman for years despite average/mediocre intl records

If Borthwick was the real deal he would be taking 60 wickets a year already, he takes barely half that

Borthwick has not bowled that many overs for Durham. He is playing on northern puddings, hardly condusive to spin. Durham and Englands handling of him, all things considered, is pretty good. The key here is potential, considering most spinners do not bloom till late 20's.

rubbish. Dont use Swann as the shining example to back this up

Borthwick is average just like Rashid is or was

Did i mention Swann ?

It is a fact that most spinners do not master their art at 21. The experience they gain makes them a more canny competitor late doors. Coaches like Jenner, Parsons and Embury allude to this. And to be fair they have forgot more than i know.

Yes, i accept genius like Warne and Murali can cut the mustard straight away but as i say we are talking genius.

I don't accept that Borthwick has average potential. And neither does that world class coach Andy Flower.
