Had his contract terminated at Hampshire by mutual consent and signed a short term deal with Yorkshire.
Not a clue what's gone at Hampshire but will be a cracking signing for some county. Not sure he would want to come to Durham but I hope they check it out.

Why? - we bat down to 10 already and that's without Lees and Trevaskis. He'd just block openings for the likes of Bushnell, Crawshaw,Bell...

True!but if our batting is that strong then we don't really need two overseas players as specialist batsmen.
I doubt very much Northeast would sign for Durham but domestic batsmen of his quality don't become available that often.
