It’s totally obvious you can only pick 11 players.

Really struggle and genuinely confused how anyone can have one bad word about this brilliant set up that has completely transformed English test cricket.

You are right about his red ball strike rate, but he does have the white ball record too, which they will consider. I dont think can emphasise enough how selection is different under this England regime now. Without brining it back to Foakes, forget whether you think he should be in side etc its just an example, the fact he can't get in Surrey's domestic white ball side tells me he won't play much under Stokes n McCullum

Different format, but it represents the skills that England are after. The fact Hain is replicating Brook in doing it in all formats tell me he will have a chance.

I think whats holdin him back as you say is his batting position. One reason Lawrence is in the squad is that they believe (rihtly or wrongly) that he can open, bat 3 and bat in the middle order

His list A average has remained the best ever for like 3 years.

So baffling he wasn't picked in 2022. Everyone was bemused at the time.

As much as Vince got a century not sure why they didn't Hain at 3 instead of him.

Could have had Salt as keeper and not pick Simpson in that ODI team too to get Hain in.
