Sam Fender

His early stuff was decent, however I think he’s found his target audience.

Fat bald mags that wear replica tops everyday and Geordie shore type lasses. His latest music is very bland and about as edgy as the Killers or Coldplay.

mag brother in law never been into music , now has a record player sat on display in his house with sam fender vinyl's next to it, be amazed if they have ever been played once

I’ve got no issue with him or his music other than the fact I have heard from several who know him that he didn’t give a toss about football until his management team told him to.

First album was good, second was okay, most recent one isn’t very good and is only saved by the production. Sings like he has a whole orange in his mouth for most of it. Just my opinion like, pleased he has done well for himself.
I can’t remember if it was bearded theory or Kendal calling last year when some minor mag musician on one of the smaller stages, started taking the piss out of Mackems and you just saw loads of people walk away. Why the fuck would you want to bring football rivalries into music?

There’s a lass at graft who went to his gig at St James’ a few year back, she admitted she wasn’t into his music but wanted to go because ‘it’ll be a mint day in the toon’

She was even asking if she could borrow a mag top to wear for it. Pretty much a lot of his fanbase is like this.

I wAs sat in a pub with him recently where him and his numerous hangers on came bowling in and I can fully confirm he's a total bellend. Serious bladder problem the number of times he visits the Netty.
I've not listened to any of his music.

I'm not really interested in footy. But I'm intrigued by the idea that someone might refuse to listen to his music or not like it due to his "football allegiance"

Personally, I think he's shite but does it matter what team he purports to support?
Don't think I've ever knowingly listened to any of his songs, but I've probably heard some on the radio or whatever. But if I heard his stuff and liked it, I'd listen to it regardless of whether he's a mag or not. I think the issue most people have is more with actually going to see him though. Would I fuck want to go to see him at a place absolutely rammed with mags, with mag flags, no doubt with the crowd singing mag songs from time to time. No idea if the band make comments about Sunderland while they're there, but it wouldn't surprise me. I can see why that wouldn't appeal to a lot of Sunderland fans tbh, the atmosphere sounds like being at SJP for a Newcastle home game, which wouldn't appeal unless we were playing there

It's less the fact he 'supports' them, and more the fact his concerts have become black and white flag waving mag fests.

Out of interest, which pub was it?

His band were in the Cricketers at bill quay on Weds, get in a bit apparently

Don't mind some of his songs and they can be quite catchy, not fussed if he's a mag or has mag sympathies because I am 47 and grown up(most of the time) and can put football rivalries to one side. Mind I wouldn't go to a gig of his in the North East area
