Are we going for our own England pick of not a good record but we see something in him?
It's a strange one, he hasn't played T20 since 2022 and he's only played in 5 of the 10 CC games for them this year, averaging 75 with the ball in those. Not sure the thinking behind this signing.

An odd one. Misfiring bowler in a team that hasn't won a First Class game for two years.

On current form I am not convinced I would pick him over any of our current second string.
I'd imagine that will be the end of a couple of the bowlers at Durham
Who though? Carse getting peddled for being a naughty boy? Killeen/McAlindon/Gibson released?

50 championship wicket shows he has something. I wonder what his injury record is.

If part of the reason is a falling out with his previous coach then a move may be just what he needs to get back on track.

Does this say anything about Gibson, McAlindon etc?

I'd imagine Glover and Gibson will be going. I think Bushnell is also vulnerable.

I was going to say looks like 2022 was a breakout season with England Lions honours and then hasn't been able to re-find the form.

Falling out with a fiery coach and the moving to refind that form.

Apart from the year you could just as well say this was about Alex Lees. Fingers crossed a similar story can happen for Conners.

I could understand it if he was a left arm seamer as the last two overseas players showed how a balanced attack is important

Were going to be without Potts and Carse a lot next season.

I guess we have to look to another option as you'd imagine the following might be released. Glover, Gibson, McAlindon and Bushnell.

If so that leaves us with Raine, De Leede, Coughlin, Hogg, Robinson, Kileen and Minto. Of which the last four are still very inexperienced.

and De Leede could be absent at times depending on his Dutch responsibilities. And thinking that a few injuries are likely sometime.

26 of them in his first season.

His career bowling averages have evolved like this:

2021 - 29
2022 - 35
2023 - 45
2024 - 76

Plotting a curve through that and extrapolating for 2026 he'll be averaging ~123.

Highlight the need for a change to rediscover his form.

He's obviously been recruited on what he has the capability to do and that a change will or could prompt an uptick in form. I can't say they're wrong and I Reckon good recruitemnt is in finding an underperforming individual. Maybe that's what he is.
