Aiming for 1-0 at home and 0-0 away is an incredibly high risk strategy. Hope this lad makes the difference but I suspect he won’t - not on his own at least.

A genuine back three gives huge license to the wingbacks as an attacking force and relies on them for width. This could be exactly what’s needed to improve our forward play as counter intuitive as that is. Still need a good goal scorer, more progressive midfielder and competition at LWB though.

This is why I am prepared to give Parkinson a chance. All the best managers we've had - and generally - build from the back. We were the second best team statistically last year - which was down to his organisation, primarily. Now we look to have better players, with more height, nous and balance than last year, to add to Willis who is an astonishingly quick centre back on the cover for this level. We can press high and not get bullied.

Lots to sort out at the other end and we've downgraded our keeper. But if you keep clean sheets consistently, that's half the battle won.

He's certainly had contact with Rodwell tbf
He didn’t like. Rodwell was with his Mrs and a Storey was on his own with a pint of Guinness. There are no photos of them together because they weren’t together. Think about it, everyone knows you in the town that has a huge interest in football. You are potentially discussing a multi million pound deal so you go to a pub where everyone will see you. Not a chance.

Having worked as a psychologist at a football club, this is precisely the stupid thing people associated with football management do.

Doesn't mean they did in this case though ;)

Ive seen it mentioned on here that they never met it was just a complete coincidence, Rodwell was apparently horrified when he found out that he’d been pictured in the same vicinity as Storey.

Interesting you’ve heard differently?
Happens when it happens.

This. Anyone who thought there was going to be a specific date set in stone from the beginning is speaking bollocks.I believe something is happening (not idea who it is trying to buy us mind) and have not seen any evidence to suggest thats changed.

Funny listening to folk asking for updates every 5 mins.

You’re correct, no date set in stone, but there may be a date by which one or other party would like to see it completed..... and that might be before things start happening on the pitch. Speculation by me.

They did, four people all on one table. Whether it was coincidence or not they absolutely sat together for a conversation of some kind. Bear in mind they were sat up in the restaurant bit you cant just go walking about in there even before the COVID restrictions so its not like people can wander over to pose for photos. FPP went to Romanos with Donald and Methven so they obviously thought it was fine to go out and be seen in public. Wasnt any photos of them either but it happened.

Someone might just want to place themselves at the scene!

Some journalist , may have been Barnes, said it was coincidence and Rodwell was horrified etc. Might be right. No idea. My mate was in the Roker bar when they turned up though and he reckoned there were four of them sat in the restaurant at one point. I don't know if they planned to meet. It could well have been coincidence

I would assume that would be the case. It is in the best interests of the club to have a strong team on the field, but that is something that needs to be funded. Donald wouldn't want to put a load of money into transfers, only to sell the club. Yet, on the other hand, he doesn't want to neglect the transfers, only to have the deal collapse and be left without a decent squad for his sporting investment.

I'm convinced that we will hear is the deal is collapsed. Donald et al are currently in a period of exclusivity with a single group, but we know that others were interested. It is not in the owners' interests for people to believe that a group is close to a deal if they are not. They will want to attract new buyers asap if this deal collapses, best way to do that is use the publicity they'll get if they come out and say it has collapsed. Equally, if there was nothing going on at all we would no because it jsut isn't in Donald's interest for groups to be put off enquiring because they think another group is in a period of exclusivity.
