Sad story, but sad to say there is unlikely to be a positive ending.
Its a shame footballers seem either incapable of checking onto scheduled flights themselves or feel that it is below them and are happy to hire a private flight, or even worse a helicopter, when there are commercial flights leaving from their local airport.
I made almost 100 flights last year and I would not swap even the shittiest of flight and connection for a flight back home in a light aircraft, infact I worked for a company and was out in Romania at the same time as the Chairman who offered me a lift back to the UK in his private jet, and turned it down for a 3 leg hop back home taking about 12 hours in total. Nee idea of the statistics of how safe commercial jet travel is against little private hire propeller ones, but I know which one I would chose every time.
