The longer he stays the more it looks like donald accepts being in league one.

Shambles
He's probably happy to keep being at top of the league, with 30k fans going each week and his outgoings at a minimal now the big wages have gone. If we go up he knows he will have to buy players and invest, so his outgoings will be more. Untill he gets someone who can fund that he will be happy to make us look like we are fighting for promotion but happy for the bigger income

Reiver's had a ton of messages over the weekend. What he's asked me to put out on his behalf is this.

"More delays in being able to make an announcement, and the whole situation is putting the club in limbo. The new owners aren't declaring their intentions, but the 'current' owners can't do anything without fear of upsetting things. All kinds of things have been found in due diligence, as would happen at any club, but them wanting to have solutions in place before announcing just prolongs things. Everything from Alvarez, contracts going back to Moyes and before, and outstanding agents' demands have been analysed and extra people brought in to do the work. No surprise, but money was drained out of the club for fun. I don't think anyone's position is safe when, not if, the new T&Cs are carved into the heart of the club"

One thing to add and stress. THE TAKEOVER ITSELF IS NOT AT RISK. What's happening is the new owners wanting to put corrective measures into action before announcing, so that they can hit the ground running.

no one seems to have said the 'staffing issues' may actually involve a complete change, SD and CM have done us proud whatever you may think of them, they never lied about the need for investment and i think they were hoping to get out of this league at the first attempt so this investment has come along at the right time as sartori was always stated as being there for the championship.

now, the three of them may well get a handsome 'bonus' out of the deal and i for one, would not begrudge them it, we hardly had a line of people knocking on bain's door when we were close to administration remember, these guys came along and did (what i consider) a lot of work to get the club near sustainable, good luck to them.

the new blokes may have already taken advice and for all we know, may even have spoken to Mr Short and i think we can guess what his advice would be and that would be to make sure they get experienced football people in...and as they will be handing over a decent wedge for the club they could well be now sorting out the people they want in for the football side, this will obviously take time and could explain why it seems to be taking forever.

of course this is as much speculation as everything else, i have no 'proof' or inside info, just my own thoughts.
Got to say that I really dislike this line about them not lying about needing investment. There is absolutely no way that Sunderland afc needed investment to get out of league one. What it needed was a proper plan. If Donald and his regime had made sensible football decisions through his tenure we would have been up without the need for outside help. The fact that we aren’t going up without the intervention of a group of billionaires is a massive mark against his ability to run a football club.

They could announce something before getting all their ducks in a row, but aren't. Reiver's more unhappy with the turmoil that's resulting from the radio silence than anything else. Or. as he put it to me, the delay in announcing is now causing more problems than the original reasons for the delay, because things are basically in a state of paralysis.
RIP the takeover

It's going to be RIP a lot of people, but the takeover itself, no.

May need samaritans number for bed wetters.

Bet this clubs been fleeced to death. I know this regime has had a shit load to deal with and still are. So no surprise there.

Thanks for the update GOM (and Reiver if you're lurking!). Must admit the takeover must be affecting things at the club by now, really hope they can get enough in place soon to get the announcement done. Mind, although it's annoying having to wait, at least it sounds like these lads are doing things properly, can only be a positive in the long term

Excellent post.
Going into last Xmas I doubt there was a manager, coach, player, owner, director or fan involved with any club in this division who thought safc would be included in this seasons Lge 1 fixture list.
