Rotherham were played off the park until we missed the penalty then a switch appeared to be flicked and heads went down. They then showed a lot more desire and fitness levels than us. It wasn't technical ability, though their centre forward looked 10x the player Charlie Wyke is, so I'll give you that.
Lack of character by the players to play for a club our size, it’s what you get when you sign players at our level!

Exactly this!

I’m sure if the fans knew half of what Jack Ross has had to deal with since taking over then they would view his tenure as manager in a whole new light. The fact he even has us competitive and took us to Wembley twice demonstrates what a good manager he is.
Tell us then

That’s the whole point .........”he” didn’t!

What do you think Coton and Hill were brought in to do?

Scout players, are you blaming them for all of our average/poor signings? Do you really think they have the final say?

And you think the manager has no control over this?

Notes the past tense “who worked at the club” .... Possibly made redundant, I really feel sorry for all who were when the Club restructured from Premier League levels - but could there be a little ill feeling from “the source”?
No, they've actually got the opportunity to return part-time if they so choose. They loved working there.

Again, agree fully. Those two missing sitters last year really cost us and they've started this season in the same manner.

Aye, more often than not you just wouldn't back them to take a chance to win the match that fell to either of them.

It's not just the missing chances, but their general play doesn't make it difficult for the oppositions centre halves and as a result the other team keep their shape and in control of what they're doing. They're not making the runs in behind and they don't hold it up and play someone in, as a result we don't get on top of teams for sustained periods, which is why usually we don't put teams away. The fact we're never usually out of a match either is down to the quality we have in other areas of the pitch.

Neither are sharp enough even at this level.

It was McNulty's run the other night that made the difference. You just couldn't imagine Wyke or Grigg getting themselves in that position.

McNulty was splitting the centre-halves and allowing McGeady to come inside and get shots off. He was also asking why he was taken off so definitely wasn't injured.
Why on earth he brought Wyke on to play with his back to goal, 30 yards out, with 2 giants marking him and thus, playing into their hands was beyond me and those I sit with.

Aye, and it's not that McNulty is blessed with a shit load of pace, it's more that he has a football brain that can get him into space. Spot on finish too as he had a bit to do when the ball was played over. 'Wanted him to take the penalty to get him on a run, used to scoring. Ross must know we need to get a centre forward in the habit of scoring meaning the instruction before the match should have been McNulty is our penalty taker.

Anyone could say that about any club and nothing would ever be released. I don't think he knows what he's talking about.
The blokes a balloon .He stated last week his wife knew why the takeover was delayed and he was going to send a Pm to anyone who is in his gang .
Now he’s saying he doesn’t know why it’s delayed and and alludes to something else .His defence of Jack Ross is comical .

Ross has absolutely no say in what players are signed? You know that as fact?

I dont know any manager who would work under those circumstances and if it is true he should be resigning

I don't believe it either. Ross doesn't strike me as a the sort of fella who would accept not being in control of the team.

There have been a few managers at other clubs who have had no control over signings, but I highly doubt it with Ross.

On the whole, Ross has had a lot of success with his signings, he's done really well generally, but the one that we really needed to come off and it didn't was Grigg. Being able to rediscover anything like his previous form at this level would have got us up last season. I don't blame Ross for that. The evidence was there that Grigg was prolific at this level, but for whatever reason he's not the same player these days. The club could have banked the Maja money, but they reinvested it, and it just didn't work.

Why is this not just a thread re the takeover, which btw has still not happened and the news has dried up.

GOM no word from Reiver mate?

Whilst I believe Ross should have been sacked after Charlton, I’m reasonably confident that he will mastermind the most expensively assembled and highest wage bill of a team the 3rd division has ever had to a dull and narrow victory of winless Bolton’s under 12’s. When this exciting takeover goes through I fear we will be to far away from the top two by January to do anything about promotion if Ross is not gone in the next week or so.

Exactly what i put on here after the game. Ross killed us with that substitution.
