Safari Secure Connection Problems

On iMac. When try to log in to certain sites... From banking to Apple (any login page) it says 'safari can not get a secure connection'

Any advice on how to remedy please?

The simpler the better, it's for my dad. (The simpler but is for me!)

Is he using an old version of Safari and MacOS? If so, that is probably the problem as most websites now won't accept the weaker protocols for encryption.

Ditch Apple and get a PC with a proper operating system like XP, then Ask Jeeves for help on Netscape.

That's what I thought (well, after a bit of googling) however it says the version on there is up to date. I'm not sure it is and I'm no computer geek so have no idea how to fix it!

Use Firefox. Safari is cack
