When you have players not as good as him or have as high of a ceiling being touted at £80-100m I’d be gutted if we got anything less than £80m. He’s that important, that young, and sitting on a long term deal. And Chelsea have paid £100m for players I don’t think are as good or have as high a ceiling. Shows though this we’ve got a good relationship thing is utter shite if rumours are true they’ve went behind the clubs back and talked to his agent. Fuck em £100m or fuck off you cheating twats.

I think we paid around £15m, there is probably a sell on we owe to his previous club, plus we will need to replace him so realistically I’d say at the very minimum we’d need £40m to make it worth while. Add in that there will be multiple clubs interested plus the daft prices premiership clubs pay & we should be looking at £50-60m imo.

I’m not sure it is tbh, we don’t “need” to money wise the only way we will is if the player wants it and we get the price we want.

Wasn’t he at one of the clubs owned by the Chelsea group?. They can get fucked as the sell on we’ll be going back to them if so. Time to up it another 20%.

It would be classed as tapping up if they contacted the player directly, not so for speaking to his agent. They could also make contact club to club to enquire if a player will be available in the upcoming window.
 
It is pleasing to see the majority of the replies are pragmatic. None of these players grew up dreaming of playing for us and it seems that the club was sold on the basis of us being a step into the Prem. For me, it is our only way of progressing. That lot up the road think they are the biggest club in the world and can't accept being a stepping stone. Onwards and upwards!
 
Hopefully xhaka will have a bit of influence and be able to persuade players to stay even if it's just for next season.no doubt some will be sold for big money in the future but the money will in all probability be invested wisely
but what a great situation to be in compared with what's happened over the last decade or so before KLD arrived at the club.

It sounds like tapping up to me.

Surely you speak to the players club first to see if it's ok to speak with the player/agent. If another club is making plans with a player or his agent before speaking with his club, then to me that's a case of tapping up.

However he is on a 5 year deal so we are in a good position
If he does go …the more clubs in for him the better surely ( for him and us ?)

Is this now not how it's done, everything gets done with the player first then the deal between the clubs is done last.
 
The reactions on here are understandable none of us want Sadiki to go. Yes we’ll get a great fee but relaxing him will be tough and will cost a lot of money. And there’s also a bigger worry once one key player goes how many more will. I hope Xhaka when he came here got buy in from the club that we wouldn’t be selling Crown Jewels at the first opportunity without it being mind blowing money. I don’t think we will, Xhaka for one would be off if we sell off decent players he’s not going to spend the last couple of decent seasons of his career fighting relegation battles with us given how well this year has gone.

Not to mention there are two clubs wanting him at least. We hold all the cards, if it’s anything less than £80m what would be the point, we’d be losing one of our most important players. Someone we paid around £20m that reportedly has a sell on clause attached by the time we’d recoup what we’ve spent paid his former club we’d have not huge amounts to replace and build on what we had. Selling him and replacing him is going to be hard enough and that’s just to stand still. The club won’t be daft they’ll know what makes sense money wise.

All clubs do it including our own, I'm willing to bet Ghisolfi has already contacted a few targets for this summer. It's like when Liverpool were bidding for Isak and the Mags were claiming he doesn't want to go, clubs don't waste their time putting bids in if they don't think the player wants to come!

I think governing bodies lost control off football sometime ago. Hence basically money laundering clubs, selling assets back to themselves, 115 charges that have taken close to a decade from the offence and still no punishment. That use to be called tapping up now clubs with the money do as they please.

There’s asking the question then there’s this constant talks if the Belgium “social media journalist” is saying is true. He’s been weird that lad hearing him talk shite in podcasts you could tell he licks the arse of the top four he was almost dismissive of us in the summer.
