Sacking Bruce

It's a pity we couldn't stick with one of the several Mangers we have had since getting promoted then we would have been celebrating mid table mediocrity weeks ago.

Did we really sack him for a good reason? I know I wanted him out at the end but I honestly can't remember what I had to complain about at the time compared to now!

Haven't read the entire thread, so am sure this has been raised but what killed Bruce was the transfer window that preceded his sacking. We had a team that finished 10th (yer knaa) and he ripped it up replacing genuine quality with bosmans from relegated sides.

Agree that the football he had us playing in the (first half of) his 2 full seasons in charge was the best we've had since our return to the PL

Still think it was a mistake at the time.
You're probably the only one mate

You just have to look at Hull for confirmation that he has no idea how to arrest a slide down the table. He cannot address a problem because he never sees it - his response is always to bemoan bad luck or injuries and his solution is inevitably to "dust wa'sels down, pick wa'sels up and go again"

Aye this anarl

IN hindsight, you look at the position we were in at the time (16th, 11 points from 13 games) wasn't disastrous compared to what has gone on since, but having spent teh first half of the 2 previous seasons in 6/7th before the annual slump it was a marked worsening of our position

Who called him 'the best British manager of his generation?' I've tried to find it but can't.

I can't wait to see his fat f***ing face and hear his excuses on Sunday. As much as I want them to send the Mags down its just not gonna happen is it? And Steve is gonna be plying his trade in the Championship. Again.

If you take the 38 games prior to their sackings as a de facto season, Bruce's record was worse than O'Neill's and Poyet's. The stats would say that if they deserved the sack then there is no doubt Bruce did too

Yes, I suppose so but seasons and positions aren't decided over de facto seasons and to do that you would have to ignore the previous part of the season where he took us toe 7th in the league

FWIW his 38 league games prior to his sacking garnered 39 points.

Not saying we weren't right to sack him because I was all in favour of the change

Tactically he didn't have a clue. He put the players on the pitch and hoped it would work. Wigan was the last straw, we were terrible. He has a poor second half of the season nearly every year.

Jardine?

All the sackings have come at exactly the right time for me.

This. Managers given maximum chance (almost too much patience) to turn things round before someone else brought in to save the day. In hindsight none of the saviours should have been given the job long term. Wonder if Dick will buck the trend one way or the other.

The most telling thing for me after Bruce was sacked is what job was he offered next? In our opinion he deserved to be sacked. In his opinion he did a great job in the premier league.

If he had done such a good job a few lower premier league sides would have been falling over themselves to employ him. As it happens none were interested. Instead he got a job with Hull who finished 8th in the Championship. IMO that's his level and Hull will be back there within 15 months.

Not a bad shout
