Sacking Bruce

Sacked at the right time, playing in the main dire football, playing injured players, Saw Turner pre-match warm up and he could hardly walk and flirting with relegation, splitting up the Jones and Bent partnership, criminal.

The difference now for Bruce is that Black is not his number 2, not sure who is but accept even though I dont like Bruce he is doing a decent job at Hull.

it would seem Black had a lot to answer for and may well be equally responsible.

And GP's tenure has been any better?! We were 12th on 1 Feb, having taken 23 points from 16 games. No we are rock bottom, spineless, directionless, not knowing what side to play or in what formation, and have taken 1 point from 8 games. That is one of the most catastrophic bad runs of form at the wrong time ever overseen by any Sunderland manager, especially poignant given the great things done up until that point.

None of that makes the slight bit of difference in regards to whether Bruce was sacked at the right time or not though does it

And Poyet....

He's got hull to a cup final and a high spot in the league, are you saying that was a fluke?

They'll be lucky to finish 17th next season, he's following the same path he did with us. Buying over priced, average players and giving them a massive salary. It doesn't work and as much as Hull fans will be loving their trip into Europe, unless their owner is willing to plough £50mil of his personal wealth into the club, they're heading for an inevitable fall...

Was it a fluke he got them promoted an all?

It also makes no difference how well he is doing at Hull. The fact is he didn't do well enough when he was here, wasted a shit load of money and was taking us down so he was sacked

He never used to take any blame for anything at all and often used to insult the intelligence of the supporters with some of the shite he spouted post match. How can you learn from your mistakes if you never actually admit to them, the blokes a f***ing arsehole

Then had a go at the strikers for not putting chances away iirc

See it's shit like this man why I couldn't stand him. He used to come on the tele saying we had to take our chances and we deserved to win the game etc after I'd just sat for 90 minutes watching us create fuck all and be lucky to draw

History suggest he'll eventually come unstuck at Hull and if he does I bet it's in similar circumstances to what happened with us

Hope Elmo goes back to being the worst winger I've ever seen too

Bruce started to lose it the moment Bent left the club. We have failed to replace him, because like it or not he was our best player and is one of the best players we've had since coming up from the championship again. I personally think it was a hard pill for him to swallow and after that he became disillusioned.

Bruce was sacked at the right time, since then our club has been in disarray due to a variety of mistakes. I'm sad about how bitter things became with him but he hardly helps himself in the press when he talks about us.

Of course he was sacked at the right time. Irrespective of what has followed it looked likely we were going to be relegated with him at the helm.

11 points from a possible 39 was pretty much relegation form or thereabouts, hot on the heels of a drop in form in the second half of 2010/11, and add to that a cup defeat at Brighton were no strikers were played, leaves little doubt it was tbe right time for Bruce to go.

Managers live and die by results. In 2011, our results killed off Bruce's time at Sunderland. And rightly so in my view.

Cant blame the club for sacking him....his last game in charge (wigan) people were virtually going to lynch him and were chanting sack him....his record was shite but i recon fans pressure played its part.

Suppose all of the managers cant be described as bad.....in fact alot had good reputation

Big mistake in hindsight?

I know he's been bitter since and a bit of a kernt,but

We're still playing pretty much a Steve Bruce signings squad.

Best finish for many years.

Brought in some talent for cheap that we then got good money for (sess, bent, gyan, mig, Mcclean)

Had a squad that scored lots of goals when the strikers were in good form, and had some good , albeit overpaid, players in it.

Did we really sack him for a good reason? I know I wanted him out at the end but I honestly can't remember what I had to complain about at the time compared to now!
No...not a big mistake at all.... The mistake was giving him the job, money and resources in the first place... He will never manage a really top club.
