According to cricinfo. Not surprising to be honest. This will be a blow to South Afrcan cricket and will affect Australia's chances in the World Test Championship but players safety comes first.
 

Not gonna knock anyone for cancelling out in this world right now, but just asking the question, was the UK any better to fly over to? we've had it worse than just about most countries, yet they came straight over
 
Pathetic. Australian cricket makes Shane Watson look like the pinnacle of manliness these days. I mean the health risk in South Africa is being shot - COVID is a quite a ways further down the list of serious risks to your health if you're in the Australian setup.

The playing field has changed. They were prepared to visit until the emergence of the new variant which spreads far easier.
