Solskaer moment, though I really like CamboI suspect this has been announced prior to tonight's game when everyone in feeling positive. Should we lose tonight and the CC go the way a lot of folks fear, it would then seem bizarre to extend the contract of a coach who had been in charge of a relegated team.
Campbell is as good as we're going to get. With North having so much influence we're never going to attract a proven head coach.I suspect this has been announced prior to tonight's game when everyone in feeling positive. I’ve no strong feelings either way in respect of Campbell. He seems genuine enough and a decent coach. My post was in respect of the timing of the announcement his contract had been extended.Short memories, he’s the bloke who got us up there to begin with. If we go down, aslong as the dressing room is behind him, it’s only right he gets the chance to get us back up.
The direction of travel has been from good to shit however.IMO we were stuck in Division 2 of the CC drifting and basically going nowhere. Campbell came in took over and clearly stated what brand of cricket he wanted to play. We then absolutely pissed Division 2, were deserved champions by a big margin, and got promoted. First season in Division 1 and we more than held our own. This season for some reason the wheels seem to have come off when we should have been kicking on. If we get relegated this season that means Campbell's had one excellent season, a good season and a poor season. Therefore, for me, the positives far outweigh the negatives.

What you see is what you get with Cambo. He's an engaging character, very level-headed, thoughtful and positive. I'd be surprised if the players don't see this. I've known him since his days in Hong Kong. I once saw him score a triple hundred on a Saturday afternoon. He was smashing 6s for fun, except against a young legspinner, lamb-to-the-slaughter, whose every ball, Cambo tapped for a single down to long-off or long-on. The young lad may even have been Jhata Subramanian who last year got a contract with Sunrisers Hyderabad.Strange that he has was given this extension prior to last nights debacle and with relegation from the CC a real possibilty. If this were RLB at SAFC im pretty sure he wouldnt get an extension...indeed he would be fortunate to still be in the job.
Not sure also about RC's ability to motivate to team given the concerns on here re the players body language which is backed up by his post match interviews where he always comes across as "disappointed" when we lose but never "angry"
Totally agree-it would be very difficult to dislike him. I'm sure if he said something that an individual disagreed with he'd listen and be open to discussion. Not sure what exactly his remit is though other than a motivator. We have a bowling coach,Onions, a batting coach, Gidman, and recruitment is North's responsibility. What you see is what you get with Cambo.
