Rusyn

We sold Stewart and then bought 5 players to try and replace him as a striker.

Hemir, Mayenda, Rusyn, Dack and Burstow.

2 years later, it's likely all 5 will be gone by the start of next season and only Mayenda will really be viewed fondly. In hindsight Mayenda working justifies all 5, in terms of he got us into the prem with his goals, but that is a poor group of strikers, really. Our worst window under Speakman.

Rusyn tried hard, he just lacked the quality. Good luck to him but I'm glad we've upgraded that position with Isidor and Brobbey.

Im not entirely sure which data will have been followed tbh, and how accurately it was recorded in the division he was playing.

Given he played the majority out on the left iirc, to make him our main Striker target, just odd.
He was really high in terms of progressive carries/passes and so on. But I remember watching a 30 min highlight package of him and you could tell it wouldn’t work

His best goalscoring season (the one after which we bought him) came off the left but he’d generally played in the middle (and across the front 3) up to that point.

With that in mind, at the time I thought he was being signed to replace Clarke but then he never got any game time out there. Was a strange move

Still think we paid more than we wanted to after the selling club held out until we ran out of options.

Not that we can complain, some individual transfers and decisions didn't pay off, but others did big style.

Yep.

Scouting showed that his game completely changed for the better when he played as a proper left forward. Like Rashford or something, running behind or off the full back. Lots of goals where he just poaches back stick tap-ins by getting the run on the right back, arcing into the six yard box from out wide.

But we not only wanted a central striker, we also played inverted wingers, so his main scoring movement was completely irrelevant to our style of play.

Worst signing we made recently because of this. Nothing against the lad himself, weve signed worse players and he was one of the very few who actually seemed to not be awed by the mere presence of the f***ing mags in the cup debacle. But he had no business here really, made no sense at all from our perpsective.

Such an odd signing.
Tried to cover multiple scenarios but ended up covering none. Was signed when we didn’t know if Clarke would go or Stewart would stay. Probably would have fared better if playing wide left off LND. But ultimately was a dice roll that didn’t land. Also he seemed quite isolated from the squad, which when added to the challenges of the war and impact on his family can’t have helped him settle.
