Russell Martin has Ross Stewart as his main target **Transfer confirmed **

Sell on clauses are so common in football, nothing to do with the club more likely an insistence from Ross County.
Everything has a price, we signed him in the January for £300K and his contract was expiring in the Summer, Ross County were not exactly in a strong bargaining position so I am sure an extra £50K would have negated that.

He’s not crocked if Southampton are willing to pay £8m. They may have money but c’mon.
The object of the exercise is to give the team you are managing the best chance of promotion. For just about the same money Russell Martin may have had to choose between Ellis Simms and Ross Stewart. It was never going to be Simms put it that way.

This.

Unfortunately, right now, financially speaking, we are in fact on the same level as those 3 you mentioned.

Many forget that.
And if promotion is currently off the table for now, then the only way to get onto a stable enough footing to pay transfer fees and salaries to compete is to sell out better players for big profits, I suppose.

He’s not signing it
Stoke in for him now as well as Southampton
Southampton are expected to be promoted, Stoke are not. If a player has belief that he can do the Premier League justice and he belongs there then the finances look after themselves. Whether Sunderland make the right call and gamble on Stewart getting them promotion is another matter but if he makes a full recovery then he will get there sooner or later.

All that talk about the flight tracker on the other thread, just seen this...
Flying from Southampton to Newcastle and back today -

Hmm actually it's LoganAir so maybe not, would make sense with Stewart's nationality mind :D

Again, could be agent talk/ Southampton leaking stuff to raise the price. But also, might scupper the Stewart deal.
