True but does his injury not also play a part in this. Say he comes back plays until Jan has only a couple of goals, with southampton even still want him? I doubt they’d want to pay a fee for him
I agree that’s point I’m making I think the club are stuck between a rock and hard place. Some people are saying we should throw daft money at him as we can’t replace him. But if he comes back crocked no-one will want him and we’ll be stuck with a high earnerI’m which case why should we sign him for loads of money?
He’s not crocked if Southampton are willing to pay £8m. They may have money but c’mon.I agree that’s point I’m making I think the club are stuck between a rock and hard place. If he does that then anyone watching will think he hasn’t recovered from the injury so won’t buy him.if he stays he'll end up tip toeing around to avoid injury knowing there's a massive signing on fee coming his way in the summer. got to get rid for as much as we possibly can
Not until the summer and there is no guarantee he comes back the same player. If he has a poor season and barely scores goals southampton will just move on. I think he’s been badly advised all along and should have signed a new deal with us when he got injured. They wouldn't have to, as he'd be on a free
He would have got a rise with promotion. He’ll be on around £5k per week minimum.Stewart should have had a new contract or at least a pay negotiation when we got promoted. No one saw the injury coming but if he's still on the same contract as when we signed him from Ross County it's poor man management from the club to let it get to this stage. If we did offer him improved terms and he turned it down fair enough but it just seems to have been left to fester with no conclusion.
This. Some of that may well be true (or it might not). Another perfectly valid argument would be that this should have been sorted out a year ago. Either the club should have backed him to become prolific in the championship or at worst once that became evident.
The first injury for example - not a serious one and a break from playing to get it done. Instead they made a paltry offer from which it has dragged on and on.
I’ve used this example before but when Fulham went down 2 years ago they put Mitrovic on top money to keep his goals and pretty much make promotion a gimme. Cost them £100k a week. Yes they had parachute money to do that and I’m not suggesting we paid Stewart that kind of money but if it’s true we offered him in the region of £10k that’s an insult. 25-30 goals a season at this level is a wage of 30k per week minimum. If we can’t find that sort of money for Ross Stewart then it’s a sad indictment of where the club is right now. No bigger than a Preston North End, a Cardiff city or a QPR.
Nixon made a very good point the other day, that the medical will be crucial for any potential deal. He’s not crocked if Southampton are willing to pay £8m. They may have money but c’mon.
I haven't got a clue what he's on I think that's part of the problem when debating these issues as none of us really know what the wages are.He would have got a rise with promotion. He’ll be on around £5k per week minimum.
Still a risk after 2 long injuries. He’s not crocked if Southampton are willing to pay £8m. They may have money but c’mon.

I'm sure some think at our club that the players/agents across the League don't communicate with each other, It's just a big secretI haven't got a clue what he's on I think that's part of the problem when debating these issues as none of us really know what the wages are.
I get that and as I said if he's refusing to sign there's nothing else we can do.He’s had a contact sat there for ages
Why sign that though if Southampton will offer more ?Contract on the table from us is 15k per week
I think the clubs ability to get a good deal has been screwed right up by the timing of Stewart’s Achilles injury.Agreed he’s not signing a contract. If he doesn’t go now he won’t leave in January, as he’ll be but a few months away from being a free agent.
We need to sell now. As usual we’ve screwed this right up.
Honestly in current circumstances I would say that’s fair, potentially maybe up to 20 if he doesn’t leave but I wouldn’t be throwing daft money around and breaking wage structuresContract on the table from us is 15k per week
