Russell Martin has Ross Stewart as his main target **Transfer confirmed **

Based on nowt, I’ve got a feeling Stewart fucks off for his desperately wanted money and we sign Cannon.

If that the case, I hope Stewart nothing but bad luck with injuries, nowt to serious, just enough to be shyte.
What if it’s a case of the club wanting money, and him wanting to stay but us not giving anywhere near what he’s worth? Would your opinion change?

It's dragged on and been clear for a long time now that he won't be signing a contract. Frustrating because this feels like one that really didn't have to drag out 'til deadline day.

Because this has been the likely outcome for so long, I trust Speakman has planned for this and we can move fast on a couple of targets.

If he isn't going to sign a deal get rid and I think the majority of fans are on board with that. The issue is we then need two strikers in 48 hours when we've struggled to sign one for over 12 months...
Well I am certainly not on board for getting “rid” of the best goalscorer at the club 🙄

The contractual situation is obvious - he is only still here because the club triggered the one year extension to his contract - he did not have one he could use.

He is currently injured which closes down both sides options

However short of a replacement of the same ability becoming available to us in the next couple of days -at a price we can afford - then the sensible thing to do is to use the loan market to secure the best goalscorer available as the window closes

If somebody comes in and offers silly money for LND then maybe consider it but otherwise he is worth more to us this season (assuming he can get match fit again soonish) than selling him for a knock down price

We should've been doing that anyway regardless of him signing a new contract or not.

First sentence, I’m certainly not.

He’s a superb player and we should be doing everything we can to convince him that his future is here both in terms of matching his career and financial ambitions.

I totally agree on your second sentence though. It’s pathetic we’re in this position again. They’ve learned nothing since January.

Head of recruitment at Southampton is Tony's brother, surely they have chatted about Stewart before been appointed

A link that doesn't get mentioned enough on here.

It's no surprise at all that it's Southampton who are cropping up on all these stories when our manager and his brother are heavily involved with both clubs.
