This is my thoughts also.

As Roy said live on telly "Contracts got to be right"

It's either money or hum getting pissy about working under a DOF.

* Just my opinion
Apparently there are two issues and money is not an issue. The main one seems to be around what a longer contract means in terms of where Keane will Live. The current regime have stated quite explicitly to existing and potential players that if you are a Sunderland player you must buy into the club and move lock stock and barrel into the area. This was a bone of contention with Grigg and one transfer fell through in the summer as a transfer target wanted to commute from a distance. KLD and KS have tried to model this approach. KLD was at Cheltenham - he’ll be at Eppleton a few days later - he‘s always around the club - rather than Monaco! Short was more remote and it led to problems. The management team have made a big point of this principle within the club and feel a head coach who lives in the NW would dilute this approach and cause unrest in the playing group.

Keane is settled in the NW and wants a long contract - 3 years plus - before he would consider moving to NE. This was the position on Monday - not sure how it has progressed. Negotiations will hopefully lead to a workable compromise.

We live in an age of data to make minute improvements and the artistry of managing from the touch line is dwindling away to a certain extent. Is Keane a dinosaur and should be left if then past?
Quite probably but until he's tried and possibly failed, those in charge have dug themselves into a bloody big hole if he's not appointed

They shared a Defoe #tbt on LinkedIn a few days before he signed and today they’re sharing a Roy Keane #tbt 🤔

Data is only information. Too many people try to dress things up these days to make their own position seem important. Our current plight suggests that ours isn’t working too well. Let’s keep everything simple.

Speakman and his poaching from a struggling championship club in an academy position with his 2:1 Business degree from the University of Derby has impressed no one of late with his various actions, and lack of them as far as appointing a manager goes.

Shambolic.
How are the players doing this season that the “data” showed would be amazing?

What’s happened to the euphoria of last night where a signing was imminent ?

Seems we have returned to normal this morning.

Data is no doubt increasingly important but we mustn't be very good at using it. And perhaps Keane also recognises its value and will use it better? Or rightly recognise that it's just one factor and there are fundamentals we need to get right before tinkering with the data. It's lazy to assume he's stuck in the past.
No assumption made nor did I say he was stuck. Just merely asking a question based on the thread I was applying to.

The info I got was that it may be announced today and I said yesterday I would be surprised if anything happened yesterday, not sure who was saying it was imminent yesterday. Guessing people got excited by the lights being on at the SOL.

So it’s a 100% a done deal ?

Your 1st sentence is wrong.

Data is raw and doesn't contain any meaning unless analyzed. Information is data collated and produced to further a logical meaning.

I know I'm be pedantic ;)

Surely compromise is easy enough on something like this, with some kind of second home in the NE. TBH I sympathise with Keane's position if it is as stated. Expecting him to up sticks for a short term contract is unrealistic.
