Disagree. That's not facts. That is all your opinion based on what is available publicly. You have no idea if we've already got Keane in the bag and are merely extricating his chosen assistant - or if we've made a clear and obvious play for him but, Keane being Keane, he's making us wait a bit. And as for the centre half thing, we have four on the books with O'Nien capable of playing there. The numbers are fine, the current situation is transient. It maybe wouldn't be the choice that all would make but does it allow us to get Defoe on contract while keeping within SCMP regs? I'm speculating here, of course, but that's the point. We don't know the whole picture. It's all opinion and we're filling in the blanks.

It's not my opinion. Those are facts.

Well said. I've defended him many a time on here but find myself unable to support his actions over the events listed above. At the very least he appears to have scuppered our automatic promotion hopes. Our defensive situation represents a massive gamble, fingers crossed it doesn't wreck our chances via the play offs.
Absolute dreadful error letting Flanagan go without getting the incoming deal over the line and putting them clowns in charge who picked the players who had played in the 6-0 drubbing the week before.Everyone around me saying they just picked them out of loyalty. Speakman saying we are going to take as long as it takes to get the correct man in. If they were going to change it at this time in the season they should of had someone lined up.

“They’re going through their process”

Complete lack of urgency and it’s going to wreck any hope for this season. May as well have not bothered sacking Johnson or signing Defoe.

If this is Speakmans doing and we lose tomorrow/Saturday he wants peddling as well. Too clever by half the little clip board swot.

42% when 2/3 of his tenure was in the PL.

Neil could only dream of that.
Any idea how that 42% figure is apportioned between the Premier League & Championship? I haven't got a clue! But I still think such bare statistics can be misleading as a performance indicator of a head coach or manager.

Remember one crucial fact.
We're looking for a coach.
Roy Keane didn't do much of that last time, he delegated it to Tony Loughlin and the others.
I don't think the "system" should mean we don't consider managers tbh. Yes, it means we won't be giving anyone full control over recruitment (and that's probably sensible). But if Keane is happy to work with others on that and focus on setting standards, man management, motivation (and I'm sure he's not completely without a clue tactically) then I still think there's a need for that in the club. If he has an assistant, and possibly other coaches, who are more the type to be on the training ground doing detailed drills with the players then that's fine, we've covered all bases.
