Although I'm certainly not anti-Speakman or against the structure they're trying to build, from day 1 the interviews smack of arrogance and that they know what they're doing with the 'project' and 'process', almost as if it's above us mere mortal fans. Johnson was also part of that same arrogance imo.
That same arrogance is what is now preventing the appointment of Keane, or at least the length of time it's taking. That arrogance led them to think we only had to turn up to beat Doncaster. That arrogance is preventing them appointing Keane quickly as they need to be seen to be going through a process. That arrogance won't allow them to appoint Keane quickly as it'll look like we're desperate for him whereas their arrogance want it to look like he's the fortunate one to be appointed.

I'm not pointing the finger at KLD here as I've not seen or heard anything from him where he comes across that way but it's firmly pointed at Speakman, he smacks of it in every interview.
He didn't come across that way at all for me but as we're on the RK thread. Do you not think he's going to provide arrogance in extreme proportions?

Here’s my concern; if, as we were
Told was the case, we’re trying to impose an identity and our style of play would be the same throughout the club, what happens if the manager they want (Keane or anyone else) doesn’t want to play in that style? Do they just abandon their principles?

Lurching from style to style hasn’t really done it for us in the past, I rather liked the idea of an identity and a more patient approach, building from the bottom, up.

Perhaps this is the sticking point with Keane?

Gerrin! Its happening then
Its a big decision for keane also...... if he makes a mess of his next job ,that will be the end of his managerial career..........if he does become our manager i think that its a sign that KLD does have a decent plan for our return to the prem (within a reasonable time frame)and is willing to financially support it.It must be a hard life for keane as if he feks this job up he will only have his multi million pound contract to go back to as a tv pundit ......fekking hard life that!

Surely the more relevant questions are:

1. What qualifies a buzzword-machine who's only ever really worked behind the scenes in junior football to impose a "philosophy", "identity" or "style of play" on the club?

2. What if that "philosophy", "identity" or "style of play" clearly isn't working? If it's got us fielding a team of bairns with almost no experience in senior football, who are leaking goals left, right and centre?

The sheer arrogance of allowing the clowns who made a mess of Saturday to take another crucial game is staggering. Seems to me like Speakman doesn’t want to be rushed by the fans, but it playing fast and loose with points we can’t afford to lose.

The most relevant question is ‘where has changing managers every 12months, with a new style and a requirement to keep brining in new players, got us?’

Who knows at this stage.

Either way our PR is absolutely amateur.

Yes and they’re still saying it.

Never understand why people get so het up when other people post in good faith what they hear about the club, then after hounding them off this place, complain they never hear what’s going on anymore behind the scenes.
I think its because they themselves would not post stuff like that unless they were 100% certain of its validity and they dont understand the motivation ..Nobody would as its a fools game!....This "ive heard a wisper" ,"im only passing it on in good faith",,but "i believe him/her" bollocks does my head in... What do they get out of posting this stuff?are they angling for a pat on the back if its right ?I just don't get their motives if im being honest! We all know things change in a blink of an eye so why post unless you are 100% sure?

I don't understand the " we would have to bring in new players" argument. We are doing significant business in every transfer window as it is. Regardless of the implementation of the data point model to deliver the process of the structure attached the philosophy, or some bollocks like that.

The question only revolves around who is making the recruitment decisions - is it someone who's paid to take responsibility for first team affairs, with meaningful experience in the game, or the silver-tongued youth coach with no senior football experience and no direct accountability for results?

100 per cent correct

Kept us in the premier league for 10 years. The sacking of managers isn't the problem it's the appointing of poor ones ie Johnson the serial failure throughout his career. It's a cushy number football management.
